1. I have been reminded twice tonight about Clark's 'Luthors are scum not worth saving speech' two weeks after Clark promised little Alexander he would never give up on Lex. So, the writers can reference stuff from Season 2 but can't remember stuff that happened two episodes ago?

2. I read the synopsis for next week and someone is going to die (I don't know who. Please don't tell me) so now I have to watch to see who it it. Plus, James next week. Grr!!!

I found a way to make episodes less traumatic: read [livejournal.com profile] voldyting's episode recaps. There's awesome graphics and by the time you're done your side will hurt. ♥

Oh, yes, I read them every week. So much better than the actual episodes.

I watch partly just so that I'll know what the heck is getting talked about. Honestly.

I wonder who dies???? (I have no idea either).

Damn show for making me watch again. I was so resolved too. LOL!

Although obviously not that much because I could just read spoilers but I don't want to

I've never had a problem with spoilers because I have no self-control at all - I was completely spoiled for the whole "Sam is possessed" episode of SPN.

Unfortunately, you and me will probably still be half-watching until the end, just to say we got some closure. Hopefully there will be some GOOD episodes.

1) I'm not trying to convince you of a different viewpoint or anything, but my take on it is threefold:

a) Clark has just come off of a traumatic experience where he was tortured by a sadistic captor who was working for Lionel, and who told Clark he formerly worked on 33.1, Lex's pet project. I don't blame Clark for being down on the Luthors at the moment.

b) Clark can't afford to be ambivalent about the Luthors when he's talking to Kara. She was already pulled in once, and he doesn't want that to happen again. So any opinion he expresses to her is going to be worded strongly.

c) Believing Lex is a "lost cause" does not mean Clark wouldn't respond to any hint of goodness he saw emerge in Lex. I honestly think it's his way of warning himself to always be on guard with the Luthors, which I think is prudent in light of his recent experiences with them.

Just in case you were wondering how anyone can still love this show, which I do. :) And I'm sorry the show is driving you nuts. I promise to only talk about S1-3 with you if you want! :)

2) I think the death that was originally scheduled for the next episode has been pushed back to the last episode of the season, now that additional episodes are being filmed. That doesn't mean something won't happen in the next episode that's connected to the death (I don't know, I'm unspoiled), but the death itself doesn't happen until the end.

I really want to stick with it and like it. I do. I haven't been this emotionally involved in a TV show since Buffy but the episode writers make it so hard with their poor characterisation and frequent inconsistencies :(

I'll probably stick with it until Lex leaves. Then I really am done

And I have no idea what to snippet this week because the episode just left me feeling cold :(

I was having a hard time with the Lex loosing his marbles and the inconsistencies also but I'm resolved to see this through to the end. I know that once MR is gone I won't be so fanatical about seeing every epi. as soon as it airs but I'll still be watching.

The viewpoint that is helping me through right now, especially with the tiny amounts of CLex being used, is that Lex knows that he can't go back and start over with Clark. He also knows that he's not the forgive and forget type, plus allthe shit he's been through trying to force his and Clark's lives together has taken it's toll. I honestly see a man, used to being ahead of the game and smarter than all those around him, feeling left behind (or out) and he hates it. One, it's Clark and deep down Lex knows that Clark will always be there in some capacity in his life but Lex want's to be able to choose what that is, and Two, Lex really is a little lost boy who know one has ever loved strongly enough to go that extra mile. He wants acceptance and that blinding trust that Clark used to show him.

Lex has been systamaticly removing or tainting all those in Clarks life that would cause him to turn from Lex or whom Lex sees as a person taking the attention (Clarks)off of him. Therefor, he's caused issues between Clark and his friends then later goes the extra mile to "fix" the issues and make Clark feel better, he's tainted Lana and showed Clark her true iner nature, he tried to take Kara away and discover the BIG secret through her, and now he's even using his dad's deadly deeds to seperate Clark from the last guiding hand in his life. In the end I think Lex really wants to just discover the secret and then go to Clark and say, "Tada, I know, no big thing. THe world didn't end and I still want you in my life." I think that Lex feels that the only way to prove himself to Clark is to show that he can be trusted with the secret and the harder Clark tries to hide it, the harder Lex works to discover it.

The unfortunate part in all of this is that without CLark's constant infulence over the years, Lex's methods of obtaining the secret have twisted more and more into his father's style and seperated him and Clark even further. In the end Lex just wants Clark's approval and care. It is sad to see them at such odds but hey, that's what were for (the fandom) to fix the stupid errors that the writers get wrong.

BTW, I don't think that Lex had Swann's daughter killed, it was Lionel. I think he had her watched and when she was killed had the amulet brought to him because she was the last person in his life who knew him before his world changed. SHe saw him in a softer light and had information he desperately wanted. He wouldn't have killed her until he had no more use for her. Lionel on the other hand, he had many reasons. Most of which include keeping Lex from learning the truth about Veritas. It makes me wonder if Lionel was in Smallville on purpose that day hoping to intercept the traveler. Lionel's words about the veritas symbol being Lex's true destiny were very telling to me. (And supported every fic that ever had Lionel giving Lex to Kryptonians or the El's ever written.*g*)

THis was long, sorry, but I hope something I said helps bring you out of the SV funk and made you smile a little more!

I wish they'd left that conversation and those comments by Clark, out. Typical final seven-minute stuff--spoiled an otherwise reasonable ep for me.

I hate it when they go to the trouble of establishing something, only to negate it an ep or two later.
