An interesting poll on a prospective new journalling site

From what I can tell a bunch of former LJ employees want to set up a service that is comparable to the way LJ used to be 'back in the day'

It's an interesting idea but I am skeptical. I really don't think you're going to be able to please everyone

It could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but unless my almost 400-person friends list decamps en masse, I'm staying here :)

Yeah, that was my thought

I suspect it will come back to the thing you posted the other day - 'many people threaten to leave. Few do'.

Exactly! It's a nice idea but practically people aren't going to leave unless all their friends and communities go too

But there's already a service exactly like they describe. It's called Insane Journal.

Well, no, because IJ's TOS is even worse than LJ

The TOS might be, but Squeaky's implementation of the TOS isn't. There might be problems in the future, if he follows Brad's example and sells out, but then that applies to everything including the hypothetical service these guys are planning.

Exactly! So we may as well stick with LJ

Fine with me - I really like the comment editing feature - but I'm hoping that SUP will be persuaded to send Anton Nossik to Siberia. Or wangle a job for him on John McCain's campaign team so that Clinton or Obama can be guaranteed the win in the US Presidential election.

I've read about it in a comm yesterday. I say the same: My F-List is here so I'll stay. Some wandered off to IJ but most of them still post here. I don't know if the other service has such good chances of acceptance.
