That was actually fun...apart from the creepery

Tonight Dave and I went to a British Fantasy Society meeting which was basically a gathering for sci-fi and fantasy authors.

It was pretty cool. A few of the guys read aloud some short stories and we drank a lot of beer and chatted.

The moment of awkwardness came when there were two Doctor Who novelists in the room. One of them read aloud a story and then promptly got 'interviewed' by the other one. It was totally unprompted and a bit weird in what up until that point had been a pretty laid back atmosphere.

I got the impression (I don't know either of the authors involved) that the one grilling the other was jealous that the guy he was questioning was more successful than him.

But apart from that it was fun.

I still haven't seen SPN. Been busy all day sadly. Will have to watch it tomorrow.

A fateful day

One year ago today an amazing thing happened. The mods of rec_hymenated were considering closing up shop when both I and oddlyfamiliar offered to take it over at the same time. It was suggested we run it together and little did I know at the time that I would be modding a comm with someone who would come to be one of my bestest friends.

Seriously, I can't even imagine not knowing oddlyfamiliar. Not only is she an amazing co-mod who shares my anal obsession (heh!) with organising things but she's also an amazing person. She's always there with wise advice when I need it, whether it be fandom related or RL related, she's got an awesome sense of humour, writes hot porn, is incredibly supportive and is a kick-ass zombie hunter ;)

So if you are fortunate enough to know her drop her a comment here and tell her how awesome she is.
