hils: (Merlin by me)
1. Merlin S2 premiers on my birthday. Unfortunately I will be in Italy at the time

2. Do you think it's possible to overdose on Misha Collins?

3. Should I start writing something else while I wait for people to feedback on my big bang 2nd draft?

4. If I ration myself to one episode of SPN S4 a day I will finish just before S5 starts. One episode a day isn't much though

5. Don't want to go back to work tomorrow. Boo!

Holy hell!

I am starting to think Misha is a figment of the collective fandom imagination. Or possibly he's like that creature in Hell House that only exists because enough people believe in him

Misha Collins has a very talented tongue )

I need to find other things to post about because I am boring myself with all the talk of Misha (ok, that's not true but I suspect it's boring for the rest of you)

So, make requests here. Give me a topic, ask for picspam, ask for a drabble. Whatever you want.

For today only I am your bitch

[livejournal.com profile] alinoradesancto has given me a nice list of things to post about that don't relate to Misha or SPN. So I'll do those at random intervals until I run out *g*

First question:

1. Tell us about a memorable birthday/party (since you know, Merlin/your upcoming birthday)
The one that immediately sprung into my head was my birthday in 2003. It was shortly before [livejournal.com profile] jacqui_hw and I started sharing a flat and she, the Marauders ([livejournal.com profile] padfoot_uk, [livejournal.com profile] flickums and [livejournal.com profile] nam_melon) and a bunch of my York-based friends all went out to Old Orleans for dinner

Amongst other things I wound up with balloons tied to my hair and we released a note inside a chilli over the river.

I also had mead for the first time (and aparently didn't learn from the experience if Mead Wednesdays are anything to go by)

[livejournal.com profile] padfoot_uk and I became shoe twins after her feet started hurting so she bought a pair of shoes identical to the ones I was wearing

The best thing about birthdays is getting everyone together like this. I think this year is the first year in a long time that I won't be doing anything like that because I'll be on holiday

I am seeing the York Merlin meetup peeps the weekend after I get back so that will be a mini-party I guess :)

2. Your first fandom and first OTP
Well, I suppose it depends how you define fandom. I have very clear memories of being into the band Take That when I was 12-13. My walls were covered in posters and I bought just about any piece of merchandise I could get my hands on. It was a pretty solitary thing though. I didn't really know anyone who was into them as much as me. I certainly didn't slash any of them either. I didn't even know what slash was back then

In terms of online fandom it was Buffy. I'd been a fan of the show since it aired and I checked out a couple of eGroups (or FindMail as it was called back then) and someone asked me if I wrote fanfic. I didn't even know what it was. LOL! So, after that I was pretty much hooked. I read any and all fics I could get my hands on. It was Buffy/Angel for a VERY short period but I soon latched onto Buffy/Spike and that was that. Not long after this discovery I wrote my first fic and the rest, as they say, is history

Buffy what what also got me to go to my first convention. YAY!

Incidentally the Buffy fandom was what brought me into slash too. I acidentally read a fic that I thought was Buffy/Spike but it turned out to be Spike/Angel. There was bloodplay and then feeding from each other which I found incredibly hot but not enough to fully deviate from my OTP

My first slash OTP was Jack/Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean and that was also the first slash pairing I wrote (I think). I still have a lot of love for that fic actually.

I'm grouping three of the more...random questions together. LOL!

3. Why tomatoes are more red than apples
Because tomatoes are disgusting and red is the colour of hell

5. Bear is dragon. Discuss
Uh...I still don't really understand this. Why would a bear be a dragon. Unless bears have evolved from dragons somehow. That would be kind of cool, although unlikely. Anyone else want to chime in on this one? I got nothing.

8. The alphabet should have an extra letter.
I like the ß symbol in German. Maybe we should have something like that. I don't know what for. It just makes things look a bit more interesting

4. The first/best video game you ever played
*launches into a history of me and gaming*

My dad is a geek. He is largely responsible for my tech obsession. We have had a computer as long as I can remember and I was the only person I know to get a Brownie badge in computer programming (and they really struggled to find someone who wasn't my dad to test me on it)

But mostly we used the computer for playing games and I have been gaming in one form or another since I was about five years old. So, naturally, remembering the first video game I ever played is kind of tricky

There was a game on the Commodore 64 called Finder's Keepers where you played a knight and had to collect stuff and I remember playing that a lot. It was certainly one of the earliest games I remember playing and may have been the first but we're talking about 25 years ago. LOL!

The best game is much easier for me. Tomb Raider 2. Obviously it's dated now but at the time it was state of the art and I absolutely LOVED it! Spent many, many frustrating months trying to complete it and as soon as I did I started over with the mission of finding all the secrets. In the end I'd played it so many times I knew where all the secrets were and could walk most levels with my eyes closed

The whole Tomb Raider franchise still has a lot of love from me. Tomb Raider Legend was also amazing and had the added bonus of being about King Arthur

...why do I not still have a geeky/gaming icon?
