Damn

It's gone midnight and I should be going to sleep but thanks to my impromtu nap this afternoon I am still wide awake. May as well start typing up my fic since I totally failed to do it after dinner

On the plus side I managed to have an IM conversation with [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary and not give her a plot bunny *g*

Top Gear should come with some sort of health warning. I was watching it during dinner and I nearly choked several times because it made me laugh while I was eating or drinking

Cranford was very sad tonight :(

I watched most of the Top 100 Family Films and I learned things:

1. I am still traumatised by Who Framed Roger Rabbit
2. Melting Nazis still freak me out
3. Pirates of the Caribbean is pretty much my favourite film ever
4. I want to watch the whole of the Lord of the Rings trilogy again

All our Christmas decorations are now up and I will take photos tomorrow. It made me think of this

Your Inner European is French!

Smart and sophisticated.
You have the best of everything - at least, *you* think so.

It's times like this I wish I could drive. And had a car. And lived somewhere that had parking.

I put my PC in my wheely suitcase to make it easier to carry it the 1 mile to work. You'd think that just having to pull it along would be easy, but no. The path is all bumpy and uneven and every time I went over a bump of any kind it felt as though my fingers were being wrenched from their sockets.

I've been at work 30 mins now and my hands and arms still ache

And I've managed to strain the muscles in my bum and thighs. I suspect by excess crouching on the floor trying to fix my computer

Aerobics tonight is going to be fun

My PC has power! YAY! Unfortunately because of the new motherboard it wants me to ring up and re-activate Windows. I could do it here but the seriel number is at home. Boo!

Seems that as well as the motherboard blowing my PSU had also died so I had to get a replacement for that.

I've learned more about PC hardware in a couple of hours today than I previously knew in my whole life. LOL.

But ow it's fiddly and I've scraped the hell out of my fingers. Again.

I have to give credit to Old Faithful. She has served me well over the years. Today hardware guy warned me that most times XP doesn't like a new motherboard and goes into a boot loop until you rebuild the hard drive

Doing that wouldn't have been the end of the world but I would have lost all my music. Woe!

But, no, all I had to do was go through a rather tedious process of entering an activation code for XP and now it's running just as it was before, only faster because I have a shiny new motherboard. Next I need a new processor *g*

Only downside is that my dead PSU had the power socket for my speakers on it. The new PSU doesn't have one so I need to get new speakers now. Again, not the end of the world

I am rather pleasantly surprised at how well this all turned out. It could have been a LOT worse.

You Know a Lot About Christmas

You got 7/10 correct

You know tons about the history and traditions surrounding Christmas.
When you celebrate the holidays, you never forget their true meaning - or all the little fun details.

Random Christmas fact: Thomas Edison has the first Christmas lights, three years after he invented the electric lightbulb.

I am adopting [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary as my muse.

She kindly popped onto IM to see if she could help with my fic and without really doing anything the words started flowing. I'm up to 2,500 now with a way to go yet but it's coming along.

Alas, I need to sleep now but I reckon it'll be finished being typed up tomorrow

I miss Smallville, even though it is stupid and they've messed everything up. I'm kind of looking forward to my weekly rant about it. LOL

And here is some crack, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] notsowise_sage
