Mar. 30th, 2005 01:29 pmThe goverment has been saying for years that our children are obese and we need to get them to eat more healthily. Now Jamie Oliver has taken a petition to Downing Street and all of a sudden they're falling over themselves to get healthier food into schools
Can you tell it's an election year?
Also, the Tories and the Lib Dems both announced plans yesterday. The Tories want to bring in a border police force to crack down on illegal immigration (Uh, we're an island. We don't HAVE any borders). The Lib Dems want to scrap the proposed ID Card system and use the money saved to put more policemen on the streets
Hmm....I wonder who I'll be voting for....

Mar. 30th, 2005 05:43 pmYou wanted Spuffy with the theme of courage
Buffy sometimes wondered what it meant to be brave. She'd often been hailed as a hero. A true warrior of courage, one who had died so that the rest of the world could live. But she wasn't so sure she was brave. What she did, she did because she knew it was right. To her courage was facing fear head on, refusing to be afraid even though your subconscious told you otherwise. There were others around her more brave than she
Willow, battling constantly with the dark magicks she'd invoked, knowing that any time they could claim her again and yet she carried on, doing what she could to help
Xander, a man with no superstrength, no magic, but he fought anyway.
Spike. She never thought she'd come to think of Spike as brave. Reckless perhaps, but not brave. Yet now as she saw him, battling each day with his conscience, tortured by the soul he'd actively sought out, she wasn't sure if it was something she could have dealt with.
He was brave
A hero.

Mar. 30th, 2005 05:52 pmYou wanted Gillette/Groves discovering their love for each other
Love comes in many guises, and has a tendency to sneak up on people when they least expect it. Theodore Groves, for example, often wondered if he would ever fall in love. He loved his job, that was true, and he loved the people he worked with, but he wasn't IN love. Perhaps that would come later
"Head in the clouds again, I see." Andrew Gillette said with a grin as he moved over to stand beside his friend. "What is it that captures your thoughts this time."
"Nothing," Groves replied, "Just thinking."
"Bad habit to get into."
Groves smiled again. Gillette was stubborn, arrogant, intensely dedicated to his job and yet he always knew just the right words to say.
"Do you want to dine at my house tonight?"
The question surprised Groves a little, he and Gillette spent time outside of work together, but it was mostly at a local inn rather than their homes. It was then that he spotted it, an intensity in Gillette's eyes, a tremour of hope in his voice. It made his heart beat ever so slightly faster.
"I would love to."
The smile he was rewarded with made his heart soar. Love, it seemed, had found him.

Mar. 30th, 2005 06:07 pmYou wanted Buffy and Spike slow dancing
"Dance with me?"
For a moment Buffy thought Spike was going to bolt. His eyes widened ever so slightly and he took a small step backwards. She wasn't even sure why she'd asked him, she'd just seen him there, in the shadows of the Bronze, alone and it had made her feel sad. There was a good chance the world was going to end sometime soon and she didn't like the idea of there still being some awkwardness between her and the man she had once been so close to.
"Please?"
Hesitently, Spike places his bottle of beer on a nearby table and allowed Buffy to lead him to the dancfloor. He flinched as she positioned his hands on her and stood there almost rigid as she began to sway slowly to the soft music that was playing.
It was only when she laid her head on his chest that he allowed himself to relax, holding her a little closer and moving to the music himself.
"This feels nice," Buffy said softly, not even sure if he'd hear her above the music and people talking.
Spike nodded his head. "Safe."

Mar. 30th, 2005 06:18 pmYou wanted Buffy getting Spike to drink from her
He was dying. Again. His already pale flesh had taken on a grey hue which reminded her of ash, and ash was the last thing she wanted to think about right now. The demon had come from nowhere, taking them both by surprise and managing to tear his claws into Spike several times before Buffy had managed to kill it. Now Spike was lying in a pool of his own blood, they were in the middle of nowhere and he was slowly bleeding to death.
"Spike?" She'd tried to rouse him several time but he was unconscious, making the steady journey towards the end of his existence.
"Spike, don't you dare leave me. You hear me?" She shook him hard just to make sure, but got no response.
There had to be a way to save him. She'd saved vampires before, she just needed to think. But time was running out for him and she had to act now. All she had was the stake she always carried with her and that certainly wasn't going to be any use to a dying vampire.
Unless....
She moved the stake to her wrist, hoping it would be sharp enough to draw blood.
Thankfully it had been freshly whittled that day and it didn't take much effort to break the skin. Forcing Spike's mouth open she held the wound above it and allowed her blood to drip in. For a moment she didn't think he was going to swallow it, but then the demon's craving for survival kicked in and he gulped.
A moment later his eyes shot open.
"You need more," Buffy said, moving her wrist to his lips but Spike turned his head away.
"Can't...don't deserve..."
"Yes, you do." Buffy replied firmly. "I'd give my blood to anyone that I love."
Spike didn't have time to register surprise at her words before Buffy pressed the wound to his lips once more
This time he drank

Mar. 30th, 2005 06:42 pmYou wanted Spike/Illyria and chocolate
"What is this?"
Illria cocked her head to one side and inspected the brightly colour wrapped object in her hand.
"It's a bar of chocolate. It's food."
Spike often wondered what it must be like to be in a world where everything was strange and new. Of course Illyria made her distaste for the human world quiet apparent, constantly reminding him of the ways in which had used to be worshipped and the power she had once held.
"It has nutritional value?" Illyria asked with disdain as she raised the bar, wrapper still in place. Spike moved over to her and took the bar from her, removing the wrapper and breaking a small piece off.
"Not exactly, but it tastes bloody fantastic."
He popped the piece into his mouth and let it disolve on his tongue. Illyria watched him curiously for a moment before snatching the bar back and doing the same thing.
Her eyes widened in surprise and then closed as she allowed the full sensation of the melting chocolate sweet over her. When she'd finally finished she swallowed and looked at Spike, her blue eyes glowing a little more intensely than usual.
"I wish to experience more pleasure like this."
Spike grinned. "I'm sure I can think of something."

Mar. 30th, 2005 06:54 pmYou wanted Sam/Frodo under a table. Oh dear!
"Mr Frodo? What are you doing under there?"
"This table needs fixing and you weren't here so I thought I'd do it myself."
Sam smiled and inwardly rolled his eyes. Poor Frodo, try as he might, had never been especially good at fixing things.
"Don't be daft, let me do it."
As he got on his knees and crawled under the table he collided head first with Frodo who was in the process of crawling out. They both saw stars for a moment as they sat there rubbing their heads and then they began to laugh.
"Oh Sam, something is always happening when you're around, and I'm glad for it."
He leaned over and pressed a kiss to his dearest friend's cheek before crawling out from under the table and going to brew some tea
Sam sat there for a moment, rubbing the cheek where Frodo had kissed him.
One day he'd have the courage to tell him how he felt
