Jacqui and I watched the first 3 episodes of Season 1 of Alias tonight. I love this show SO much even though I've watched it loads of times. Scary thing is I find I'm becoming more of a Syd/Vaughn shipper every time I watch it. I used to think he was so blah but I'm warming to him. I still haven't seen Season 3 but I've got it on DVD waiting for me when we get that far. I'm so excited! Season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger

On an unrelated note I'm still feeling crappy. It's nothing specific, I think I'm just run down. The last couple of weekends have been super busy for me and I just need a rest. Still, nothing major planned this weekend so I can sleep all the time if I want to. Maybe I'll try and get Press-Ganged 6 finished. I did a bit more of it last week and it seems to be coming along nicely. 2 more chapters after this one and I should be finished!

Meh

The sneezes and sniffles continue and we still have no heating at work. If we don't get sent home today I may take the afternoon off. Sitting in cold rooms is not good for me

The heating has been fixed at work so no freezing to death for Hils. YAY!

We seem to have spent most of the morning talking about cruises. My boss has been on a few and was telling me all about it and what to expect. I'm SO excited about the SlayerCruise. 7 months today!!!

I pay my last installment on Dec 1st and I'm already looking at places where I might be able to get cheap flights. Someone on [livejournal.com profile] brits_americans sent me the link to the Miami Airport website so I can look into getting a shuttle or a train to Fort Lauderdale. Things are all coming together nicely

I also recieved my first Christmas present today. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] richess! I've been really good and haven't opened it, just tucked it away ready for Christmas.

Uh...think that's all I have to say

WHEE!!!!

I cried during the 2 minute silence today. Radio 2 read a poem about how all the soldiers who have died will never grow old and I started thinking about Ben. It's been over a year since he was killed in Iraq but today is the first time I have actually allowed myself to grieve for him. I was in the US when they had his funeral so I don't think it ever truly hit home that he's gone.

We didn't really stay in touch after I left Northallerton but if I happened to bump into him he'd always say hello and stop for a chat.

My fondest memory was him dragging me out the day after my 18th birthday and insisting hair of the dog would sort my hangover out. He bought me a pint of lager and refused to leave until I finished it

I hope you're at peace, Ben and know that everyone who knew you loves and is remembering you

This statement amused me. It's one of the options I was given for todays issue at http://www.nationstates.net

"We must increase foreign aid," says beaded local peace activist Roger Gutenberg. "Compared to some of these nations, Hils is swimming in Spikes. Let's face it, not every nation in the world is lucky enough to have a government like ours.

Swimming in Spikes? YAY!!!!

Also, here's a meme I nicked from [livejournal.com profile] padfoot_uk

I was going to do a post about tonights Alias but I'm really not in the mood. I've just been reading through all the kind and supportive comments I've received in response to my post about Ben and now I'm all weepy again.

I don't know why it's hitting me now. I don't remember getting this upset at Armistice Day last year, which was a few months after Ben was killed.

I'm going to try and visit his grave when I go to my parents for Christmas. I just feel it's something I need to do. My mum kept encouraging me to but I never did, I think maybe I didn't want to face up to the reality of what had happened. I feel ready now though. Ready to pay my respects and say goodbye

[livejournal.com profile] padfoot_uk kindly sent me a silly Weird Al song about ebay to cheer me up. I'm thinking about adopting it as my theme song. I'll admit I have bought some crap off ebay, but it also comes in handy for saving money sometimes. My £25 handbag broke last week after I'd only had it for 3 months. Apparently it couldn't cope with the weight of all the crap I carry around with me. Anyway, I bought a brand new replacement on ebay for the princely sum of 99p. Hell if I have to buy a new one every month at that will still cost half the price of that last bag. I just need to learn what to not buy...like DVDs. Santa Clause the Movie has been released and I appear to be the only one that's excited. It was my favourite Christmas film when I was a kid. I'm not going to buy it though. I'm a good girl now!

I'm SO excited about Tim Burton's Willy Wonka!! I haven't been this excited about a film since [livejournal.com profile] mrthursday casually mentioned they were making a pirate film with Geoffrey Rush and Orland Bloom. Even from that small taster I knew it was going to be great...and that was before I found out about Johnny being in it. I listened to my Willy Wonka soundtrack tonight. I love the songs...but I kind of hope they don't put them in the new version. I just can't imagine Johnny singing

Alias was good tonight, although it did make me cry when Vaughn had to go to the funerals of the CIA agents who were killed and the little boy gives him a hug. I'm still loving the Syd/Vaughn stuff though and Jack Bristow is rapidly becoming one of my favourite TV characters. I love him!

Right, it's been one hell of a week so I'm going to crash in bed and be glad it's Friday tomorrow

Nicked this from a whole bunch of people

This is the problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, and we know nothing about each other. I'm going to rectify it. I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Feel free to ask tough questions.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Ever since I saw the new Willy Wonka pics I've had this song in my head so I thought I'd plague you all with it

Who can take a sunrise
Sprinkle it with dew
Cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two
The Candy Man
The Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
Who can take a rainbow
Wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make strawberry-lemon pie
The Candy Man
The Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
Willy Wonka makes everything he bakes
Satisfying and delicious
Talk about your childhood wishes
You can even eat the dishes
Who can take tomorrow
Dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The Candy Man
The Candy Man can
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
And the world tastes good 'cause the Candy Man thinks it should...

This song makes me happy. I don't know why. Maybe because it's so full of hope and joy. Anyway I like it!
