It's been ages since I've done this
Jun. 11th, 2004 08:16 pmI feel so much better now that I know we've got the flat. The concept of actually moving is still mildy stressful but the bulk of it is out of the way. By next Sunday I'll be fully moved in and hopefully settled
Anyway,I don't think I've posted anything like this since before I went on holiday at the start of May. Here we go
( Cooking With Dave )
All that food is making me hungry. Think it's time for dinner. Before I go, however, look what my lovely office did in light of the football season. They're so patriotic (apart from the Scottish guy who was miffed because his team didn't qualify for the European Championship)
( Welcome Euro 2004 )

1. Take your LJ username and replace each letter with the corresponding number (A=1, B=2, etc...). If your name contains numbers, you'll need to convert them to letters first before you can convert to numbers.
Hils
=8, 9, 12, 19
2. Add all of the numbers together to create a kind of super number.
=48
3. Make a note of the first digit of this number, then add the digits of the number together.
=12
4. Find the post of this number in your LJ. If you don't have that many posts, add the digits together again. Keep doing so until the number is smaller than your pathetic number of posts.
= Interesting
5. Take the digit you noted in step 3, and count that many words into the post.
=day
6. Use the resulting word in a Google Image Search, and select a picture from the first page and post the results for us all to see!

James the man
Jun. 11th, 2004 11:01 pmThere's a lot of talk going on about James at Moonlight Rising. Must confess I haven't actually sat down and read any of it, mostly because con reports can generally be split into 'James is great' or 'James was crap'. I realised I'm very broadly generalising here and I don't mean anything unkind by it. I just tend to find that something is lost if you weren't actually there.
Of course I am as guilty as the next person for posting photos and reports, but these are mainly for myself as a reminder and then if anyone else wants to read them then that's just a bonus
Anyway, after reading a post by
hobbituk and chatting to a few people online I thought I'd share my current opinion on James which is basically how I've felt since Tampa last year.
James Marsters is merely a human being.
Yes, I realise some of you may be shocked by this revelation but it's true. He's not on this earth to be some god-like figure that we worship. He's a man doing his job. I'm not saying I don't enjoy meeting him, I do. I find what he has to say quite interesting, even if I don't always agree with him. He knows how to play a crowd when he's performing, he knows how to make each meeting with him seem special. In short he's good at his job.
I find it a little sad that so many people place all these expectations on him because of what he does for a living. I love Spike, I don't deny it, but James isn't Spike. He's a completely different person with faults and blemishes just like the rest of us. He likes to date girls half his age? So what? He won't be the first attractive man to do it and I'm sure he won't be the last. He has a bad temper? Who doesn't?
Point is, while I find James an interesting person I am not in the least bit attracted to him. He's old enough to be my dad for a start. I'd love to sit down and have a really long conversation with him but that's about it
Hmm...I' sure there was a point to this rant when I started typing but I can't for the life of me rememeber what it was now *shrug*
I'll just stop here then
