James the man

There's a lot of talk going on about James at Moonlight Rising. Must confess I haven't actually sat down and read any of it, mostly because con reports can generally be split into 'James is great' or 'James was crap'. I realised I'm very broadly generalising here and I don't mean anything unkind by it. I just tend to find that something is lost if you weren't actually there.
Of course I am as guilty as the next person for posting photos and reports, but these are mainly for myself as a reminder and then if anyone else wants to read them then that's just a bonus
Anyway, after reading a post by
hobbituk and chatting to a few people online I thought I'd share my current opinion on James which is basically how I've felt since Tampa last year.
James Marsters is merely a human being.
Yes, I realise some of you may be shocked by this revelation but it's true. He's not on this earth to be some god-like figure that we worship. He's a man doing his job. I'm not saying I don't enjoy meeting him, I do. I find what he has to say quite interesting, even if I don't always agree with him. He knows how to play a crowd when he's performing, he knows how to make each meeting with him seem special. In short he's good at his job.
I find it a little sad that so many people place all these expectations on him because of what he does for a living. I love Spike, I don't deny it, but James isn't Spike. He's a completely different person with faults and blemishes just like the rest of us. He likes to date girls half his age? So what? He won't be the first attractive man to do it and I'm sure he won't be the last. He has a bad temper? Who doesn't?
Point is, while I find James an interesting person I am not in the least bit attracted to him. He's old enough to be my dad for a start. I'd love to sit down and have a really long conversation with him but that's about it
Hmm...I' sure there was a point to this rant when I started typing but I can't for the life of me rememeber what it was now *shrug*
I'll just stop here then
