This morning seemed to run away from me. It was suddenly lunchtime without me feeling like I'd really got anything done at all. Fortunately I had a more productive afternoon. I finally managed to get my mailbox sorted out which has made me feel so much better. I'd dealt with everything that had come in but I hadn't managed to do all my filing. Got my inbox reduced from 263 emails to 47. Phew.

Just before my boss's 2 weeks off a member of staff handed in their notice. He's the first person to leave since we started working from home and recruitment is something I'm responsible for so we're having fun. Not only do we have to figure out the logistics of interviewing people remotely but we have a new HR system which still doesn't work properly so we're having to wrangle that as well. At the moment my boss is the only one who can view vacancies and applications and since she handed recruitment over to me a couple of years ago that's not exactly ideal.

Hopefully it'll all work out. I had a nice chat with our two external recruiters today which was novel because I haven't spoken to either of them since February. The first guy I spoke to opened with 'Hi, how's the pandemic treating you' and we had a laugh about that. The woman I spoke to lives in Greater Manchester and says they've had to go back into lockdown which is a bit worrying.

Still, work is back to ticking along nicely and I'm enjoying only having to do my own job and not my boss's as well.

Fandom stuff is also ticking along. Didn't get any writing done yesterday evening because k-pop stuff was happening and apparently this is now my life. BTS released a b-side video to their new single which is all outtakes. It's really fun and I actually prefer it to the official video.

I also read a really interesting article about language and racism which prompted some discussion on Twitter. By the time I was done with all that it was time for dinner.

I only had time for one episode of Lost Tomb because after I was done eating I had a fun time browsing my music collection to find songs for [personal profile] naye. I still think I'm on track to get finished at the weekend though. [twitter.com profile] MadamoiselleBon have agreed we're going to try and get to the point where we can watch episodes 31 and 32 together on Saturday before we watch some more of the dumb Yibo with superpowers show.

I think it's telling that I'm not livetweeting as much as I did when they were exploring tombs and destroying cultural artifacts. I did a few last night but not as much as usual.

I'm still not wild about the Warehouse 11 storyline. I'm interested in the mysterious person who's been texting Wu Xie and how that relates to his missing uncle but apart from that it's not great. Although I was kind of amused that everyone Wu Xie attacked when he broke into Warehouse 11 showed up on his first day at work and made it clear they were Not Happy.

And I know this is a well-paid job but as I mentioned on Twitter the show seems to have taken on a prison type vibe. Everyone in uniforms, the 'cells' they sleep in, the bullying. I don't like it.

Also, I have learned that humiliation is not one of my kinks. The scene where Wu Xie was made to do push-ups and the guy put a foul smelling shoe in front of his face was bad. The scene where he's forced to serve tea and do push ups for the guy his uncle embarrassed was even worse. I don't like it and it makes me uncomfortable. Which I guess is the point. I felt a similar way when Shen Wei was made to kneel down outside, but this somehow felt worse?

So, yeah, I hope that gets better soon but something tells me it won't.

And don't even get me started on Pangzi's storyline. I had to actually look away and read Twitter on my phone because it made me so uncomfortable, and from what I've heard it doesn't get any better.

I really miss the adventures and the tomb raiding and the Iron Triangle being together and I'll endure this to get to the end but I'm not massively enjoying it. There are at least the occasional good moments in the Warehouse 11 storyline. This made me actually laugh out loud.

So, sticking with it because the end is in sight and season 2 seems to be going back to the good stuff.
