All is well
Aug. 24th, 2020 05:03 pmBoss is back, she had a nice two weeks off, and I don't seem to have done anything terrible while she was away. I kind of forgot I booked Thursday and Friday off work this week so I only have 2 more days at work and then I have 5 days off including the weekend and bank holiday. Can't wait!
I had a pretty chill day yesterday. I ended up watching episode 2 of Street Dance of China with the Australian gang in the afternoon and a couple more people joined us this time which was fun. I've already reached the point where I have Opinions on some of the routines. I couldn't tell you from a technical standpoint what's good and bad but I can tell when something flows well and complements the music. I'm enjoying it a lot and I think we're going to watch another one on Thursday while I'm off. Because the Australians are so far ahead time wise the only time we can do it is morning/early afternoon my time which is evening for them. We're making it work and it's a lot of fun.
I only managed to get 400 words of fic written yesterday but it's ticking along. I would really love to have a first draft finished this week. I'm getting close to the end it's just a case of finding time when I have so many other things to do. I swear I'm more busy now that I'm stuck at home than I was before COVID.
I'm also getting towards the end of Lost Tomb. I'm generally getting through 2 episodes per evening and I've got 12 left to watch but with my 5 days off coming up I reckon I can have it finished by the end of the weekend. Originally when I was finished I was going to watch Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty as a lot of people recommended that to me. But I think I'm going to watch the other Lost Tomb shows instead. I think
MadamoiselleBon is keen for us to watch them so we can stream together on a Saturday like we're doing with Reboot. At least Lost Tomb 1 is only 10 episodes long. Lost Tomb 2 and The Mystic Nine which is a prequel show are longer. Well, at least I won't be bored any time soon.
And, speaking of Lost Tomb, I watched another two episodes last night. Things have taken a turn. I think it's telling that I barely had anything to say about episode 19 when I was livetweeting.
More thoughts under the cut
I miss the tomb raiding! I've been assured there will be more in season 2 but for now the plot seems to be focused on Warehouse 11 which I'm not finding particularly interesting. Considering I still have 12 episodes left I really hope something happens to make it interesting or I'm going to be in for a boring time.
I don't like it when the Iron Triangle is separated. We haven't even seen Xiaoge since the attack on the village.
Also, I don't understand why Wu Xie's uncle is so protective of him that he wouldn't let him go tomb raiding, only to evict him from his home even though he knows Wu Xie is dying. Like I know he wants to punish him for breaking into Warehouse 11 but kicking him out of his home seems a bit harsh.
Similarly I'm not wild about Pangzi's storyline where he is pretty much stalking his old crush from school. It's kind of creepy and is making me uncomfortable.
And then the Sunglasses and Chuchu storyline has also gone kind of gross where he's referred her to a doctor to 'fix' her so that she'll be able to speak.
Bah everything is terrible and I really hope it gets better soon because I don't like not enjoying the silly tomb show. Am still going to stick with it but it's making me feel a little sad.
Oh, and I need to issue a retraction. A couple of days ago I described the new BTS song as 'not particularly memorable' and the joke's on me because it's been stuck in my head for DAYS! I did say to someone on Twitter that it felt like the sort of song that might grow on me and that's definitely what's happened.
I still generally prefer their hip hop/rock songs but this is a fun summer pop song and I actually really like it now I've listened to it a few more times.
