Urgh Monday

Well, I survived my first day of the second week of being the boss. I really am fortunate to work with such a good team of people who will jump in and help when there are issues that need dealing with.
I'm really bored of the heat and humidity now. I woke up at 5am this morning because I was too hot despite having both the windows in my bedroom open all night. It's giving me headaches and I'm tired because I'm not sleeping well. Can it be autumn now, please?
Still, in spite of that I managed to have a productive afternoon yesterday after accidentally falling into a k-pop hole in the morning. It all started with this video, which is a joy to watch even if you're not a fan of the genre. It's just so wonderful seeing an adult man losing his mind over the video to a song that is primarily aimed at teenage girls.
This kind of led me down a Youtube rabbit hole, with one of my friends from Twitter sending me other songs to listen to and, before I knew it, it was lunchtime.
Still, I managed to write 1300 words of fic in the afternoon which I was very proud of, and I also managed to get in another 2 episodes of The Lost Tomb Reboot. Twitter yelling here
More thoughts under the cut.
While it's mostly an action/adventure show there are also some horror elements which is kind of freaking me out. I don't mind gore (I watched and loved all of Hannibal) but I don't deal well with suspense. Like there's scenes where they have to walk among these wax figures and I was just waiting for a jump scare (there wasn't one but gah my heart rate).
I still don't understand the B plot with the mute village and the underground river. I quite like sunglasses guy and badass mute girl but I legit can't remember why Sunglasses went there in the first place. And I can see why a lot of people chose to skip these scenes. They've got people in blackface, a bucketload of cultural appropriation, and it doesn't seem to be particularly relevant to the main story. I'm mostly just watching it for completion and because I like the two characters. But I will be glad when they finally leave the village and, presumably, meet up with everyone else at some point.
I'm finding Wu Xie and Pangzi's relationship particularly interesting after the whole drugged confession of feelings. I know the show played it for laughs (and that's how it got past the censors) but I can't stop thinking about Pangzi emotionally telling Wu Xie that he's been in love with him for years and wants to kiss him. It's so tragic.
I don't think Wu Xie is entirely oblivious either. I think it's just easier for him to not think about it and carry on as normal. Based only on this show (I have no idea what he's like in the other shows or the books) he doesn't seem particularly interested in romance with either men or women. Asexual Wu Xie?
Oh, and speaking of The Lost Tomb
umadoshi pointed out you can get a box set of the English translation of the first 6 books so I went and ordered it. Not that I've read any books at all this year really. I read a couple just after Christmas and when I'd finished The Untamed I read the novel it was based on but apart from that all I've been doing is reading fic.
I haven't even read the Guardian novel yet.
I'm sure I read on Twitter a while ago that there's a name for someone who is addicted to buying books but not necessarily reading them.
It me.

I don't remember seeing that one in particular, but I definitely remember a tweet going around saying that buying books and reading books are two very different hobbies. YEP.
