Everything is still awful but I've managed to be at least semi-productive this weekend. Gave my bedroom a good tidy yesterday which actually lifted my spirits a little once it was all done. Mess is more depressing than you might think. And during the clean I found the missing charger for my Kindle. I mean it was on the bookcase rather than in the mess on the floor but still :D

Babysitting for my nephew yesterday evening which was always an adventure. He was actually pretty well behaved this time. I mean he's never naughty or anything but he tends to get excited when I come to visit so he doesn't sleep. Even last night he was still awake when Ros and Ben got home at 10pm. He has this thing where after you say goodnight he gets ALL his toys and puts them in his bed. When I went up to check on him at 9:30 there was no space for him in the bed. He had about 30 stuffed toys, a few jigsaws, some lego and his CD player all in the bed.

Ros says this is just something he does and they're not sure why. He likes to tuck everything under his duvet like a hoarder.

So I took everything out of his bed and got him to settle down. He was just on the verge of falling asleep when Ros and Ben got home so of course that woke him up again. Ros sat with him for about 10 mins and eventually he drifted off.

In trip news I did a bit of shopping last night. The place that sells all the hockey merch was having a sale with up to 65% off and free shipping.

So, I bought a Kessel jersey for the Pens games were going to and an Ovechkin shirt for the Caps game we're going to.

Jersey had $40 off and the shirt had $7 off. Bargain. I've had them shipped to the starting point of our road trip as the free shipping was only to the US and Canada. So they'll be there waiting for me when I arrive :D

Wow, the trip is only 8 weeks away now. It is coming up FAST! Luckily there isn't really anything left to do from a planning perspective. All our hotels are booked, all our game tickets are purchased. Car hire has been paid for, and I've booked my train to the airport. All I need to do is show up :D

Today I have dragged myself to the coffee shop with the intention of at least attempting to do some writing. I'm not feeling particularly inspired but getting out of the house is probably a good thing. I've got a bunch of WIPs so I'll just have a poke and see if anything inspires me.

Tidying and retail therapy sounds like it was needed ;)

I wouldn't worry about your nephew - he is more likely doing it because it makes him feel secure. Instead of his bed it might be worth suggesting that a favourite toy (a teddy is a good idea) would like to look after everything when it's bedtime. So instead of putting the toys in the bed teddy could sit somewhere else and have the toys all around him/her such as on a chair or on a special blanket on the floor in the same room which might give the satisfaction needed. Might be worth a try? Sorry - couldn't resist suggesting something (ex teacher of childcare and education *g*).

Ooh, that's not a bad idea! I'll suggest it to Ros next time I see her :)

I sympathise with your nephew's instinct - I never took things with hard corners to bed, but when I was a child my bed was full of bears. I was afraid they would be cold and lonely if left out.

Sounds like you had fun (well, with the retail therapy at least)!
