Greetings From Coventry - Day 2
Sep. 18th, 2016 12:13 amHad a blast at
writerconuk today! As always there was a great range of topics for the panels and a lovely bunch of people who are always so interesting to chat to.
We started off with a talk on how to art which was a general discussion on the creative process which I found really interesting and which had some good tips.

Break time is always fun for drinking tea and having a natter

After that we had a really interesting panel on design styles in artwork which got us to look at how art such as movie posters are compiled. I learned a lot and it has definitely changed the way I look at art and fanart.
Next up was a panel on diversity which stimulated some interesting discussion

17pansies very kindly gave me an awesome Pens water flask as a birthday present. I'm trying to drink more water so this is both practical and fannish. I love it

After lunch we made fandom calendars which even for me as someone who is crap at crafts it was something simple and fun

Afterwards we did some stretching and had a panel on the history of belly dancing. I appreciated the video of the number of times exotic dancing appeared in The Man From UNCLE :D
Cocktail time!

Because they were preparing the room for dinner we decided to hold my panel in the break room. It worked pretty well because it was more of a roundtable discussion than a panel so the relaxed atmosphere and cocktails helped :D
I got dressed up for dinner so behold a rare pic of me in makeup

Then it was time for more cocktails. I approve of any con that has designated cocktail breaks

It's been really cool. We always have a really nice bunch of people at this event and we're all good friends which gives it a really relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Even the two people I dragged along who have never been before seem to be enjoying themselves which is a relief.
Every year I get gently teased about the number of fandoms I have been in since this con started running 10 years ago. I think when I have a little more time I'm going to sit down and do a blog post about them all. My friend Bill is curious if nothing else. Wow, there's so many :D
Oh, and at one point I got scolded for looking at Carl Hagelin when I should have been paying attention. Oopsie but look at him
