Captain America: Civil War
Apr. 29th, 2016 03:56 amI just got back from a midnight screening of Civil War. It's nearly 4am and I have a lot of feelings
OMG! This movie was so awesome! Like more or less tied with Winter Solider levels of awesome! This is just a bunch of disjointed thoughts as I think of them.
All the things I was worried about (the ensemble cast and Spidey) ended up being AMAZING!
And the movie was FUNNY! Like I was expecting 3 hours of pain and angst and it really wasn't. I think the most upsetting thing, for me, was Steve crying at Peggy's funeral.
AND WOO HOO STEVE DIDN'T DIE!
T'Challa was magnificent! MAGNIFICENT! I am super excited for this movie now! They should have named this movie Captain America: T'Challa Gets Shit Done And Kicks Everyone's Asses :D
Argh I loved it so much!
I'm a little sad they've put Bucky back on ice. I thought he was going to be part of the team now. Does anyone know if Sebstan is set to do any more MCU movies in the near future?
I kind of love how easily Steve and Bucky fell back into their friendship. They've both clearly been thinking a lot about what happened in Winter Soldier and decided to just get on with it. There was that one conversation in the Quinjet and then they just got on with it, falling back into the old banter *draws hearts all over them*
And I also love they've started hinting at future Wanda/Vision. They are kind of adorable even when they were on opposing teams.
Clint was wonderful. "I leave for five minutes and everything falls apart." I kind of love that even though Steve and Tony are the team dads Clint is there as IDK the snarky uncle. And I love that his friendship with Wanda has carried over from Age of Ultron.
I was so dubious about Spidey but he was wonderful! The whole cinema was laughing through pretty much the whole scene with him and Tony. I'm going to have to see it again just to catch all the dialogue I missed because we were all laughing. When Tony showed Peter the video of him as Spidey and said 'is this you?' a dude in the audience yelled 'YEAH!' and we all cracked up. So great!
And I think above all that despite all the PR 'you must choose a side' bullshit there actually is no right side. I could see both sides of it and neither of them were 100% correct.
OMG and Sam and Bucky giving Steve the nod of approval after he kissed Sharon. Amazing! I REALLY hope we get a movie with Steve, Sam and Bucky being snarky bros who give each other shit about everything all the time.
Okay, I think that's it for now. No doubt I will have more thoughts after I've slept
