I have purged my LJ of just about all my comms which is making my flist much easier to read. I shall try and keep up with this thing from now on.

At some point I shall do an epic TMI post about what's been going on with me for the last year or so but in the meantime what's going on with all of you? Tell me stuff. What's happening in your lives, in your fandoms, have you seen any cute kitten pictures recently? Talk to me!

In other news I just watched the Arrow pilot

It was okay. It hasn't immediately grabbed me but it definitely wasn't awful. I'm certainly willing to give it my usual 5 episodes try to see if it picks up.

It's quite funny that the Queen mansion is the same house that they used for Lex's in Smallville, and even funnier is that Black Cannary is Katie Cassidy who was the first Ruby in SPN. Oh how all my fandoms mesh :D

But, yeah, it was okay. I do like that for once they whole secret identity thing is done well. Ollie goes out of his way to play up to his playboy image before skulking off into the shadows to play with his bow and arrow ;)

I can see this developing into something good but only time will tell.

And I'll have to use my Hawkeye icon for now ;)

Hmm, let's see...nothing much, the usual, went to Taco Bell on Wednesday so I'm seeing Looper tomorrow.

I will hopefully start on chapter four this weekend of my Avengers as friends story...not sure anyone is reading it so at least I like writing it.

I was kind of meh with Arrow until the last few scenes which got me intrigued a little more...I didn't do Smallville past the pilot...I was too much of a puritanical fangirl back then and it changed too much for me...

I'm watching Ultimate Spider-Man from Sunday and I can't wait for the episode coming up where Phil gets to kick actual ass, according to the clip.

I am seriously loving Ultimate Spidey. So much fun!

We've kept up, but I'm still here too on occasion. :) I'll probably never leave all the way, as much as Tumblr owns me now.

Tumblr is so distracting but I think LJ is better for fandom discussion which is what I want to try and start doing more of again.

I liked it. A few clunkers - "no one can no my secret", delivered deadpan as he killed the kidnapper - but overall, not too bad. My biggest obstacle so far is my intense dislike for Smallville's Oliver Queen, since Lex was always my favorite :).

I'll be vexed, though, if they don't explain the following:
- how did he come by such a lovely bow on the island? No, he certainly didn't make it himself.
- how / why did he learn hand to hand combat on the island? Similar to the first question.
- why haven't any squatters / bums moved into his top-seekrit warehouse lair?

It get the feeling that the island is slightly more mysterious and we're going to find out a lot about Oliver's five years on it. Hopefully those two answers will feature heavily. I'm guessing that's where he also learnt Russian and they're trying to make it all mysterious.

The warehouse? I have no clue. And surely someone is going to notice him going there eventually?

Especially if he keeps leaping over the fence like a young gazelle! - Actually, I liked that scene. I wonder how many of his stunts he does himself?

I wonder how he transported all his manufacturing equipment?

I should stop with the questioning, and enjoy with some suspension of disbelief. Because there is no way he built himself an arrow that could hack the bad guy's bank account & transfer 40 million dollars.

Haha! Yeah, Lex was always my favourite in Smallville too but I did come to like Ollie once Lex was gone :D

And those are all very good questions!

I agree it was okay. I am willing to give it a few more episodes. Not sure how I feel about the main guy, but his friend sort of intrigues me. The way he looks at Oliver... hmm

no appropriate icon applies.

In real life, I'm busy homeschooling my son and don't have much time for fandom these days other than the newsletter, but I am determined to keep write something.

Yeah, I am struggling to find time to write these days. I did a small submission for Avengers RBB but it was a frantic rush at the end and far from my best work :-s

I'm in my first year of law school, so I basically live in the library. I don't update LJ much at all, sadly. Maybe I should do that more, but it would be a lot of me talking about gender identity & school drama. Not sure how interesting that would be.

The Vampire Diaries season premiere was really good. Not sure if you have continued watching it, I remember you were starting to at one point. I also picked up Sons of Anarchy and pretty much watched four seasons in a week's time; the fifth is currently airing and I love it a lot. Violent and amoral and motorcycles.

I think baby otters might be as cute as kittens!

I really enjoyed it. After so many shows recently having sub-par action and fight sequences, I thought the ones on Arrow were really well done.

I'm intrigued by a lot of what they showed us in the pilot and an hopeful that it could end up being really good.

Out of all the pilots I've seen, Arrow was my second favourite, after Last Resort. There have been very few good pilots this season. A few that have potential, but nothing that screams awesomeness. It's very sad.

I haven't really tried any new shows this year apart from Arrow. I generally watch stuff based on what my Twitter feed is flailing about and I haven't heard much at all. Apparently Revolution was disappointing so I didn't bother.

Also, asdfghjkl Coulson icon :D

There haven't really been that many good pilots this year. The Last Resort pilot was good...although I'm still unsure about the rest of the show. The next two episodes are distinctly average but I'm hoping it'll improve.

Revolution could have been amazing. The premise is all kinds of cool. But, god, the execution is not good. They chose completely the wrong characters to focus on. It's a real shame.

Work is stress monster - I think I'm going to have to fire my newish assistant, for a whole variety of reasons, and it sucks. I HATE letting people go.

I signed up for a holiday fic exchange and am now really regretting it, but stuck now.

Going to Phoenix, Arizona for a long weekend at the end of the month and am really looking forward to it!

Yeah, I am slightly regretting signing up for the Clint/Coulson holiday exchange and I haven't even got my prompts yet! Which one are you writing for? Anything I can help with?

It's a Highlander one. My giftee wants slash or gen, no het, no crossovers. I mostly write gen, het, and crossovers LOL. So am trying to come up with a passable gen Highlander only fic idea. I think I have an idea, and may set it, in my brain, in my current Highlander/Avengers verse, 100 years in the future. But nothing to make it a crossover on the page.

The cake is good. Babies too, hoping to visit soon!
As for the rest, probably nothing a good break/rest won't cure but slightly high blood pressure and blood sugar level so they're running tests just to make sure it's nothing serious.

Do you know what would make be healthy *shameless exploitation of potential health issues ahead* A visit from you!!!!!

It's a bit sad but there's not that much going on in my life at the moment. After a horrible summer of too much work, I'm finally on vacation (which is already over soon), went to a convention, met great new people, visited a friend in Bavaria this past weekend and now I'm just relaxing and enjoying my last free days.

Looking forward to reading about anything that's new with you. :)

Well, The Avengers was great and the new season of Merlin is just fantastic. Dark and gothic, just my thing.
I'm planning on how many times can I see The Hobbit without looking wierd.
And Matt Smith is a great Who.
