Any fears I had about Chris Evans as Captain America were totally unfounded. He did it perfectly.
I did find his CGI tiny body somewhat distracting at the beginning but other than that he pulled it off completely and was exactly what I wanted Cap to be. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE AVENGERS MOVIE I CAN'T EVEN.
I do have to wonder if Howard Stark and Peggy hooked up after Steve 'died'. Imagine if Peggy turned out to be Tony's mother. Awkward...
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they killed off Bucky. I appreciate that setting it in 2011 means that Bucky would not likely be alive now anyway but I remember feeling sad when I was reading The Ultimates and Peggy and Bucky were alive (and married to each other I think) but were old while Steve was still young. I think that could have made a poignant scene in the Avengers movie but I guess they're not going there.
But, yeah, apart from that two thumbs up from me. I'm really kicking myself that I missed Thor at the cinema. Am going to have to rent it when it comes out on DVD.
And there were some good trailers. I really want to see Arrietty when that comes out and Cowboys and Aliens also looks awesome. I really need to start going to the cinema more regularly again.
In other positive news getting out of the house for a few hours, doing a bit of shopping and seeing a good film really cheered me up. Feeling a lot better now, and the issues that were bothering me at the start of the week appear to be pretty much sorted so YAY.
