Nashcon: Saturday

There was definitely a weird vibe about this con. A lot of people said the same thing but they couldn't put their finger on why. In the end we decided it was a mix of J2 being there before Misha and the fact that the hotel was SO huge you could walk from one end to the other without running into anyone you know. That's sort of what the con experience is about for me.

So when I woke up on Saturday morning I was really not in the mood at all. I was tired and not in the least bit excited about seeing Jared and Jensen. This is unlike the breakfast at Chicon last year where I was so nervous I couldn't eat anything.

Again, it was the weird scheduling. Usually the breakfast is on Sunday morning so it felt kind of weird doing it on a Saturday.

It was fun in th end though and at least the lack of nerves meant I could actually enjoy some of the nice food that was included in the gold ticket

The breakfast itself was kind of fun, mostly because Jared unveiled his Twitter account and then proceeded to talk about it while Jensen pretended to fall asleep.

Jared: Jensen, tell them what your reaction was when I told you what I'd done
Jensen: Just one word. 'Seriously?'

So Jared said that Gen had helpd him set up his account and it had taken them AGES to find a version of his name that wasn't already taken by one of the faker accounts. In the end he had to go for JarPad. Which is short at least.

I never actually saw what Jared's original Twitter avatar was but he took a photo of Jensen during the breakfast and that's now what he's using. It was actually Jensen's idea. LOL. He was mocking Jared for having whatever it was before and then he said 'You should use a picture of me'

And thus this pic came into being




The only other thing I really remember is Jensen saying Shania Twain had been on the same flight as them to Nashville and the flight attendant had seen her name on the list, thought Danneel was Shania and told her that she loved her music. LOL.

After the breakfast Holly drew an angel which I named Cas and it sort of kept going until we had this

Then it was time for the first photo op of the day. My much anticipated photo with Jensen.

Oh, and what a saga it was too.

Right before the photo ops started I realised that lizajaneok had my ticket. Cue frantic texting because she'd gone for lunch but I had no idea where and in a hotel this size there was no way I could find her.

No reply to the text.

I started sifting through my phone trying to find my copy of the invoice so I could maybe try and use that to get in but my 3G doesn't work outside the UK and there was no wifi in the convention area.

I'd pretty much decided that I was going to have to miss my photo because everyone had gone already when lizajaneok burst in. God bless her she had run from one end of the hotel to the other (in no shoes) to get my ticket to me.

That woman is goddess and then some!

So the crisis was averted and I got my photo with Jensen. And after all the joking and whatnot I actually kind of like it!



It was incredibly short. No words were exchanged apart from 'hi' but he did rub my back after the photo had been taken. So that was nice.

Straight after that it was time for my photo op with Jared which I was sharing with heavenreturned. We kind of had this epic idea planned where we would pretend to be petting his hair but when we got in line I totally wussed out because I felt like a creeper :(

It's a nice photo though and you can really tell how tall he is more than the one where I was hugging him last year. I don't even come up to his shoulders!


Seriously, how amazing does he look? That hair and that smile! GUH

After that it was time for the J2 panel. xenachakram12 kindly took my camera for photos as she was sitting a lot closer to the front than me. Unfortunately none of them really came out. I don't know what it is but the same thing happened last year at Chicon. None of my panel photos came out apart from the ones of Misha. I swear he is a photo wizard or something.


All I have is this one lone photo of Jared.

I am really bad at remembering a lot of stuff from panels but I'll see what I can recall.

Jared talked about his Twitter again and Jensen pretended to fall asleep. Then there was a long debate about whether the verb for Twitter is 'tweet' or 'twit'. Jensen said tweet and mimed using his phone then said twit and pointed at Jared. LOL. Oh, boys.

I honestly can't remember a lot about it. Jensen was very earnest in his answers while Jared was a bit more goofy. Jensen is actually a lot more like Dean than I realised. He loves his guns and cars and classic rock. If he could take anything from the set it would be one of Dean's pistols, but one of the real ones not a prop. He said his fave things to film are the ones where he gets to use blanks with real gunpowder. Apparently there's two kind of blanks. Half-rounds and full-rounds which is how much powder they have and how much of a noise they make. Obv Jensen was a fan of the full-rounds.

Jensen talked about directing and said he takes a lot of his inspiration from Kim Manners and that he can still feel Kim with him when he's directing. He also takes a lot of guidance from Bob Singer.

And the only other lingering memory is probably the one of the best things at the whole con. A girl called Connie was there with her sistr Bess. Bess is legally blind and she can't see people unless she is really close to them. Random Acts helped arrange for her to shake Jared and Jensen's hands at the end of the panel so she could see them.

Afterwards we met up with them and I invited them to have dinner with us. In all seriousness they are two of the sweetest and most loving people I have ever met. We talked about fandom a bit. Connie is not a shipper but she says she totally gets why people are. She just loves the show and doesn't get involved in any wank or anything like that.

They really are girl versions of Sam and Dean. Connie is older, more outgoing and drives a muscle-car. Bess is quieter, but more introspective. They call each other Sammy and Deaner. Bess bought Connie a Dean amulet for Christmas before she'd even seen the Christmas ep so she had no idea that's what the story was.

Honestly, I just wanted to cuddle them both.

Connie is an AMAZING artist as well. She showed us this fantastic oil paining of Sam and Dean standing my a grave near the Grand Canyon. I wish I'd taken a photo of it that I could show you. She displays her art and she always designs them so that non-SPN fans can appreciate it as well as fans of the show. She was saying how one woman saw the painting and told her that she saw the boys as two brothers with the one leaning on the car as the oldest. Amazing.

She wants to do one with Castiel next so I hope I get to see that.

Anyway, let me introduce you two these two amazing girls

So after that it was time to get out autographs from Jared and Jensen. Not much to tell really. I had nothing to say to Jensen apart from 'hi' and 'thank you'. No, I did not drop down to my knees and profess my love ;)



Jared was a bit more fun. I got my Mishalecki pic from Chicon signed Jared laughed when he saw it. Lisa had suggested I get Jared to deface Misha so I did ;) I'll show you the photo in my Sunday report as Misha, naturally, retaliated *g*

After that I had my photo with Matt which I shared with Lisa. I love Matt. Really, it is the sweetest and warmest person I have ever met at a con. He gave me and Lisa big warm hugs when we went up for our photo



Then it was time for Matt and Richard's joint panel. Again, it's all kind of a blur so I'll just talk about what stands out in my memory.

Someone asked Richard what prank Gabriel would pull on Sam and Dean if he came back. Richard said he'd make them smaller and then chase them around.

Then Richard said he wanted to see an episode where Gabriel and Sam swap bodies (I think) and that he could actually do a really good impression of Sam. He went off stage to 'get into character' and this happened

LOL! Jared actually did Richard's mannerisms really well.

The other part that linger is someone asked Matt do to his 'I will turn this car around' line

He sat down and took his gum out, sticking it on Richard's chair (Richard was out bounding around in the audience). I kind of thought Matt was going to leave it there to see if Richard would sit on it. But, no, he did the line and popped the gum back into his mouth prompting a lot of people to say 'EEW'

Matt said there was a ten second rule so it was fine. Somone called out that Jared's butt had been on the seat earlier and Matt pretended to get all fangirly and did this

It was a really fun panel actually. I managed to get a few decent photos of it. I say I when I mean xenachakram12





















Finally there was the costume contest which we stuck around to watch because Connie and Bess were in it (and made it to the final)

Then it was time for autographs from Matt and Richard. I took my duo op of them from Chicon and as soon as he saw it Matt burst out laughing. 'Richard! Richard! Look at this! See how mature we are'. He loved it.



Then I had a life changing conversation. Matt was talking to someone in front of me about Moon Pie (he was wearing a Moon Pie t-shirt). I asked if he would mind explaining what Moon Pie is to the clueless foreigner. He legit flailed. 'It's like chocolate and marshmallow and man I don't even have the words to describe it. They sell it in the hotel though!'

Well, I could hardly turn down a recommendation like that. I bought some on Tuesday AND OMG IT'S SO GOOD! I've already asked lizajaneok to bring some over when she visits in October.

Finally at the ridiculous time of 11:30pm it was time for the dessert party. Seriously, the schedule for this thing was weird. Loads of people didn't bother showing up because it started so late but I'd bought a dress so I was going to wear it GDI

We had visits from a few of the guests. Brock came first and opted to stand rather than sit with us. I think we scared him. LOL. He was slightly puzzled that Holly and I had come from the UK to the US for a con but hadn't been to the con in the UK a couple of weeks before.

He looked at Gabriel-Jared and wanted to know what it was. We asked him what he thought it was and eventually he said mouse. From then on it became a thing. Richard said mouse and so did Matt.

And that was it. Another late night. Oops.

And first thing the next morning I had Misha. Oops.
