God, it feels like forever since I've done any sort of non-meme related update. I blame Twitter.
How are you all? I'm still here and reading even if I'm only posting meaningless drivel
Still jobless but the first order of business is to get a car. My first car. Meep! I've been having a look on autotrader but I seriously have no clue what's good and what's bad. My friend Ros and her husband have offered to take me car shopping so it's just a case of finding a weekend where we're all free.
I need to start applying for stuff soon though. As soon as I get back from Chicago if not before.
Mum is still screeching at me to sign on for jobseekers allowance to cover my National Insurance payments. I've tried to explain to her why I haven't but she won't listen. It's getting to be hard work talking to her.
Five weeks today I fly to Chicago. It's come around so fast! I'm starting to panic now. I have everything sorted out but cons make me nervous. I'm not one of these people who can just talk to an actor like they're a regular person. I wish I was. I get all starstruck and bashful. I mean I'm capable of having a conversation but I am very aware that I'm talking to A Famous Person.
But I'm sure it will be fine. I know Misha makes good conversation and I've met Mark Sheppard before so I am prepared to be mocked. Richard seems like a really down to earth and lovely person so I'm not too worried about that. The others I have no idea. I'm not expecting an earth-shattering experience with Jared. He's the main attraction so everyone will be wanting his attention and, honestly, I'm sure there are people who fangirl him a hell of a lot harder than I do so they're welcome to the experience. I'll have my photo with him, get my autograph but I don't really have anything to say to him.
And then a week after I get back it's A5 which is being attended by pretty much everyone I'm seeing in Chicago. LOL! Seriously, the only A5 guest not doing Chicon at the moment is Julie McNiven (who I met at Collectormania). I'm going to look like such a stalker.
I'm still working on my
deancasbigbang fic and I have been claimed by an amazing artist. Check out
samibee. She's really into this and we've exchanged loads of e mails. She drafted out some concept art only a couple of days after she'd read my fic. I'm really excited.
In between all the RL and fandom stuff I have been playing Dragon Age. OMG such an awesome game. It reminded me why I stopped gaming in the first place because I'd rather be doing that than writing :-s
stripedsockscat told me that I needed to romance Alistair because he was the game's version of Dean Winchester (if Dean was a virgin). He is epically snarky and sarcastic and kicks ass. Well, he is now in love with my character and gave me a rose as a gift. We smooched in the middle of a dragon infested cave. How romantic. LOL.
Uh...I think that's kind of it really
Oh, I have a question! Our PS3 doesn't play region 1 DVDs and our multi-region DVD doesn't upscale so the US DVDs look a bit blurry on the big HD TV. Anyone know of a reasonably priced multi-region DVD player that will work with an HD TV?
