Yesterday was Greg's last day at work. We've worked together across two jobs for seven years and we were friends before we started working together. It's going to be weird not having him to geek out with every day.

So, to mark the occasion we went to see Iron Man 2

I can't believe it's been two years since I first saw Iron Man with [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalhel and [livejournal.com profile] tasabian while we were at Collectormania

I liked it a lot! I don't think I'm going to go and see it multiple times like I did with the first one but I will definitely be buying the DVD.

TONY AND PEPPER KISSED ♥ ♥ &hearts

I am kind of sad that the scene in the trailer where she kisses the helmet and tosses it out of the plane didn't make the final cut but I can see why they took it out.

By the way, Joss, if you kill Pepper in your Avengers movie because you have some sort of twisted loathing of happy couples we are finished.

I was also surprised that the initial plot of Tony's alcohol addiction was replaced with the Palladium poisoning but I guess people don't want to see their hero that flawed. I dunno.

Sam Rockwell was fantastic. I really need to watch Moon. I feel bad about not having seen it after seeing the talk from Duncan Jones at Expo and then him talking to me on Twitter too.

And I loved that Happy got a bigger part this time.

I was really sad when I heard that Terence Howard was replaced with Don Cheadle as Rhodey but it worked. I loooooved the fight scene in Tony's house.

I was totally indifferent to Black Widow. Scarlett Johansson tends to leave me feeling like that with most of her films (apart from Lost in Translation)

Of course Samuel L. Jackson was hamming it up massively as he always does. 'Get down from the doughnut' LOL.

I need to get the novelisation now, as the one for the first movie had loads of little extra bits. Although Peter David hasn't written the one for Iron Man 2 so it might not be as good.

Can anyone answer me this: When Tony is talking to Agent Coulson (who I loved seeing again!) and Coulson hands him the item he uses to level his pipe. Is that Captain America's shield? It kind of looked like it, and Greg thought it was.

But, yeah, two thumbs up from me.

THOR!!!!

After the film we went to a nearby pub for a drink. Unfortunately a guy Greg and I used to work with was there and OMG he is one of the skeeziest guys I know. He makes me skin crawl at the best of times but last night he was drunk and kept calling me 'sweetie' and touching my hand. DNW!

A couple of Greg's friends that I know through gaming came in so we had one drink and made a hasty exit to another pub. I ended up getting very drunk. I only had four beers (and just bottles, not pints) but one of the girls we were with was celebrating scoring 100% on her exams so she bought a bottle of Champagne and I had two glasses.

Champagne and beer do not mix!

When I got home I drunk!dialled Dave and spoke to him for about half an hour. I can't remember a word of the conversation other than he told me he was fighting a boss on Final Fantasy XIII.

I texted him this morning and he said I was surprisingly coherant considering how drunk I was. I didn't make an ass out of myself so that's good.

Needless to say I'm feeling somewhat fragile this afternoon but it's okay. I have nothing to do but lie around in bed.

Lots of fandom chores to do but nothing that requires moving so YAY
