Misha squee!
Nov. 30th, 2009 07:39 pmGreetings one and all! I am home from Collectormania and if you've been reading my tweets over the weekend you might have an inkling of how much I enjoyed myself. Misha was absolutely wonderful. Charming, funny and (dare I say it?) even more attractive in person.
Because I am a dedicated little fangirl I did a little journal writeup after each day so I didn't forget anything (although I suspect there IS stuff I have forgotten) and I also took a rather epic amount of photos during Misha's talk. So if you're interested here it all is (spread over a few posts so I don't break anyone's computer)
There are some semi-spoilers for S5 in here (stuff that hasn't aired yet). Nothing major but hints at things.
Saturday
*happy sigh* Yeah, it was worth all the angst and the stress and the flailing and the getting up at 5am and running on four hours sleep.
We got to the venue nice and early so I wound up with ticket number 11 for Misha's signing (for those who don't know they operate a virtual queue system so you pick up a ticket when you get there and then people get called in in batches so you don't have to spend all day in line). This meant that I could pretty much go and see him as soon as he started signing. I needed to psych myself up first though so a bunch of us went to the cafe to have some breakfast. What I wasn't expecting was for Misha to walk right past us while we were there. LOL. He was having a look around at all of the stalls and stuff before he settled down to start signing. He looked amazing but it didn't do much to settle my nerves. I have to say he's a lot more slender in person than I was expecting. I guess it's because Castiel wears so many layers he looks more bulky.
After breakfast we went around the stalls ourself and looked for things we could get Misha to sign. Gave up in the end and just decided to go for one of the 8x10 prints they give away when you pay. I was so nervous but it all worked out ok in the end.
krazykipper was in front of me in the queue so I listened to him talk to her (she's a volunteer for the Collectormania people so they were talking shop) and that settled me a bit because it was obvious right away that he's one of those naturally friendly and chatty people. Then it was my turn or should that be our turn because
valderys was behind me in line and we chatted to him together while he signed both of our pictures. He said he liked my minion badge and I complimented the one he was wearing (someone had given him a badge that said I heart bangers and mash). He said that he'd been really impressed with my friend Julie for making the badges and sending them out to a bunch of us. He also said that he really hadn't expected the whole minion thing to take off the way it has, but that he thought it was very cool.
valderys said something about how we were just looking for an excuse to create a bit of anarchy and Misha said he was a big fan of anarchy and he grinned.
valderys said she found it really weird seeing him smile because he's so serious on SPN. Misha apologised and gave us a proper Castiel face and it was awesome.

After that we went and had another tea break so I could come down from my Misha high (which was pretty epic) and then it was time for my photo shoot with Gareth David-Lloyd. Yes, there were people other than Misha at this event! He was nice. Polite but quiet, which I suspect was because it was still pretty early. LOL.

After that we had to go straight to Misha's photo shoot. Nerves kicked in again but not quite as bad as the first time. I asked him if I could have a hug and he pretty much glomped me. I have the biggest manic grin on my face. LOL! So embarassing but also awesome.
My photo with Julie McNiven was right after that and she was adorable. She said that she liked my hair and that we were two redheads together.

After that there wasn't much to do except wait for Misha's talk. We sat around, talked fandom and played Shag, Marry, Cliff. I seemed to spend the entire weekend defending both Sam and Jared from everyone else. LOL. Next time I need more Sam/Jared girls to come with me to this thing. LOL.
Right, Misha's talk. I'll try and remember as much of what was said as possible but it's all a bit of a blur. Misha did talk to me though, even though I didn't ask a question, so obviously that's the bit that sticks in my mind most. Someone asked him about Stonehenge Apocalypse which I was going to ask him about. Misha said it was the worst title for a movie ever and my mouth engaged before my brain so I yelled out that I thought it was an awesome title (come on, it is!). Misha asked me if I really liked it and I said yes. He then said 'Well, that's one person who likes it. Great, we have an audience of one, that'll do wonders for the ratings.' He then proceeded to mock the film quite mercilessly. LOL.
Someone asked him what the weirdest thing he'd ever put in his mouth was. He launched into this epic story about how when he was little his mum had told him that it didn't matter if he ate a bit of dirt because it would boost his immune system. He took that to mean that dirt was really good for you and he said he used to spend hours sitting on his back porch eating fistfuls of mud and thinking it must be good for him because it tasted so disgusting. He also said that he used to like to be the center of attention around all the other kids he knew (so attention whoring is not a new thing for him. LOL) so he used to do random stuff and once put a snake in his mouth. He also said they once found a small bat, barely alive, and he licked it. LOL.
He pointed out that his mum had come along with him and was in the audience filming him on his iPhone (she was sat just across from me and smiled at me at one point) and he hastily pointed out that she was not a bad mother for letting him eat mud. LOL.
Julie McNiven was sat in on the talk too and they talked a bit about Anna and Castiel's relationship. Misha said he'd always played it that Cas and Anna used to be an item and at first Julie said she didn't but she did add that in the episode they just filmed she played a scene like she and Cas were breaking up.
She was really adorable actually, very funny and she was wearing a minion badge. She said she gets to do a lot of fight scenes in her newest episode and at one point she had these things up her nose that were supposed to make fake blood drip when she breathed out, only she said it didn't really work and she wound up having to blow out through her nose really hard about four times before anything happened. LOL.
dametokillfor's sister asked Misha for a fic prompt (because someone paid her to do it I think) and Misha said he wanted Bobby/Impala with tailpipe action. Well, when a bunch of fangirls go to the pub after a con...it got written. With illustrations. We wound up doing two actually. They were both round robin sort of crackfic things and I have one which I need to finish off and I'm not sure where the other is that this point. If it turns up in an unlocked location I will link you.

Pub was awesome. The pizzas were HUGE and cheap too! We approved
Following on from that Misha said he didn't understand why he has this reputation for trawling the internet reading slash. He said he's only ever read half of one story. Julie said she read half of one Dean/Cas/Anna threesome fic but stopped when they started caressing each other. Misha said he stopped reading his when Castiel had cock in his mouth.
He said that when (and made a point of saying 'not if, when') he takes control of the UK he will get rid of our healthcare and make it so that only the rich and elite get taken care of. He also said he'd been on a sightseeing bus and boat trip the day before and the commentary had been so boring he'd fallen asleep, so he'd make those more interesting.
That's the bulk of the stuff I can remember but I'm sure other people out there will add stuff to the comments so check back for that. LOL.
Oh, and we were stalked by Supernatural songs in the evening. They played Won't Get Fooled Again (which will ALWAYS make me think of Changing Channels now), You Shook Me All Night Long, Sympathy For The Devil and when we got back to the car Carry On My Wayward Son was on. Awesome.
It was a wonderful day. Looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow
Sunday
I'm still pretty much on a Misha high. Today, for me at least, was even better than yesterday but that was mostly down to the amount of time I got to spend talking to him.
As I'd expected the majority of people today had come to see John Barrowman and so even though I arrived later than yesterday I ended up with ticket number 8 for Misha's signing so that was even lower than the day before. We went to see Julie McNiven first though and she was lovely!
littlehollyleaf gave her a headband with a halo on it and Julie practically squeed with delight she loved it that much. When I walked past at the end of the day she was still wearing it. We asked her if she had any theories on who Anna called a favour in with to get her body back. She said she had some ideas but she couldn't really talk about it. I guess that means it's something that's going to be addressed at a later point in the show.

Julie wearing her halo

indehead drew a plate of bangers and mash and gave it to Misha
We went to see Misha next and since
littlehollyleaf and I were wearing matching minion t-shirts (same logo in differet styles) he talked to us about that. He was very surpised and also very impressed and excited that you can actually buy minion t-shirts online. He signed my photo op picture from yesterday and said that it was cute. I told him I was really embarassed at how overly excited I look in it and he said it was cute again and wrote 'super cute' on it.
littlehollyleaf then said that her boyfriend has a major crush on Winona Ryder and that he'd told her to ask what she was like to work with on Girl Interrupted. Misha said she was nice, but not actually that hot in person. He said she was more 'homely'.

Later Holly went back and instead of getting an autograph she asked him to write a note to her boyfriend saying what he'd said to us earlier and he did! It was so awesome. It said 'DAVE, I'm sorry to report that W.RYDER is not really that hot in person. I'm sorry to tell you this. - Regrets, [signature]'
Second photo op with Misha was nice. I opted not to have a hug this time as I wanted to show off my minion t-shirt. As it turned out there's a such a big height difference between me and Misha you can't actually see much below my shoulders anyway. LOL! Well, that's something to know for next time.
Not quite sure what happened but the photographer didn't like the first photo so I got to spend a little longer with Misha's arm around me. He really big on eye contact and at one point I glanced up and he was just gazing down at me. I may have died a little inside. LOL.
We then spent a good couple of hours sitting around and talking fandom while we waited for the photo op pics to come back. Then
indehead decided she wanted another Misha autograph so we tagged along. He had pretty much no queue so the organisers didn't mind us just going up for a chat while
indehead got her picture signed. Misha was talking to her about flights and he said something about an 'airplane, or airoplane as we call it'.
indehead asked him if this meant he was considering himself British now and I added that as far as I was concerned he was an honourary Brit already. Misha said that the Queen had made him an honourary Brit because she'd been bowled over by his charm when he went to see her at The Tower of London. He said that she was a very lovely and witty lady. LOL.

We made a Misha shrine during our afternoon of sitting in the cafe and talking about fanfic and whatnot
We'd been discussing Jimmy Novak earlier and whether he was still alive so we decided what better than to ask Misha. He said that he'd always played it as though Jimmy was still alive, but that something is said in an upcoming episode that confirms that Jimmy is indeed still in there with Castiel. He then added that he hoped that wasn't too much of a spoiler. Well, we did ask! LOL! No, seriously, I may be the biggest spoilerphobe but it somehow seems ok when the comes from the actors directly. And I'm always amused when they use internet terms when talking to us. LOL!
By this point I'd already pretty much decided I wanted to get Misha to sign my second photo op picture. I just needed to see him one more time to finish off the weekend. Because the photographer had taken two pics I wound up with a freebie and I really couldn't decide which one I wanted to get signed. In the end
yavannauk suggested I ask Misha to choose. Genius! I gave them to the nice crew lady sitting with Misha and she looked at them for a while and couldn't decide either. Eventually she described them to him and made him choose without seeing them. LOL!
By this point I'd seen him so many times I wasn't nervous at all and I chatted to him the way I do to most of the actors I meet. LOL. I asked him how tired he was feeling and he said he was exhausted to the point of delirium and that he was supposed to be going to a business meeting after the con but that he'd just cancelled it because he was too tired to go. I asked him if he was flying back in the morning and he said he was going back on Tuesday. I asked him if he was doing more sigtseeing tomorrow and he said no, he had twenty five interviews to do. I kind of gaped and said that sounded like a lot of work, and he said it was going to suck ass. Then he apologised for whining at me and I told him it was okay and that I hoped the interviews weren't too painful. I thanked him for coming and that I'd had a really enjoyable weekend, he said that no he should be thanking me for coming. I said I hoped to see him again some time and that was it. I probably only chatted to him for a couple of minutes but it felt like a lot longer because it was so relaxed and it was the first time I'd chatted to him one on one rather than having a group conversation. It was definitely a perfect way to end the weekend and I'm really glad I got the chance to thank him because I honestly never expected to ever get the chance to meet him. I know he's done at least one Rogue Events con but I refuse to give them money on account of their shoddily organised conventions so this really made me so happy.

Oh, and I met Iron Man which was kind of awesome

And we had pie in honour of Dean to end the weekend
Right. Talk photos. There are a lot. I mean A LOT. About 70 in total. I'm going to spread them over two or three posts but they're still not going to be very dialup friendly I'm afraid.
Some of the photos are a little bit blurred and that's mostly down to Misha moving around a lot. LOL.
