Merlin

I hate to say it but for the first time I didn't enjoy an episode of Merlin. I fear this show is suffering from 'Smallville Syndrome' in that it knows where the story needs to end up and is unaturally forcing the story in that direction

I've been totally fine with it up until this point, and I was mostly fine with this episode (although the Lancelot/Gwen stuff did feel a little contrived with how in love they suddenly were)

What bothered me was Lancelot leaving at the end. I appreciate it was supposed to be a noble gesture but just because Arthur loves Gwen doesn't mean she reciprocates his feelings. He didn't even ask how Gwen felt about Arthur he just found out Arthur had feelings for Gwen and legged it

Unless of course he loves Arthur and doesn't want to hurt his feelings.

Either way his actions didn't take how Gwen felt into consideration at all and that really bothered me

On the plus side Arthur did apologise for treating Merlin like crap...once. It's kind of making me uncomfortable how like an abusive relationship this is getting. Merlin obviously cares about Arthur more than anything else and Arthur continually treats him like crap. It's so far away from how he was with Merlin last year where he did give Merlin unpleasant things to do but he obviously cared about him too.

I really hope things get better. I love this show more than anything and I don't want to wind up resenting it
