Last night we started watching S4 of SPN because Flick andartharsil haven't seen it yet. I noticed a few things that tie into S5
In 'In The Beginning' Castiel tells Dean something along the lines of 'Destiny cannot be changed. All roads lead to this point' which is pretty much word for word what Lucifer tells Dean in The End.
Also when Dean talks to Azazel about his plans for Sam to leads an army of demons Azazel tells him his plans are so much bigger than that. I wonder if that means that all of his special children were potential vessels for Lucifer and since Sam is the only one left he is it by default.
