I like to keep this journal a happy place where people can just hang out and enjoy the fandom stuff. Occasionally though I need to rant so please feel free to wander on past and picspam me with hot guys in my other post instead
Ok, this is riding on the back of something I saw a few days ago and didn't post about because I didn't want to bring the negativity to my LJ
A week or so ago a handful of stupid fangirls started getting abusive to Misha on Twitter, calling him names and generally being assholes. I suspect they were just trying to get a reply out of him but he did the mature thing, said nothing and simply blocked them.
They then started a #unfollowmishacollins campaign on Twitter wherein they bitched a lot and claimed that he was arrogant and disrespectful to his fans etc etc.
Then today this popped up on
fandomsecrets. So far all the comments have been in Misha's favour and there is speculation that this has been done by one of the girls he blocked.
Now, I'm not offended on Misha's behalf. He's a grown man and has already demonstrated that he is perfectly capable of taking care of himself.
What pisses me off is the way that people like these girls and whoever posted that secret are ruining the fandom experience for the rest of us. It would be so easy for Misha to decide that it's not worth the hassle and to stop using Twitter. He doesn't have to tweet. He does it because he likes the fans and likes interacting with us.
I just don't understand why these people feel the need to cause trouble. Seriously, I don't understand it. There's plenty of actors out there I'm not fond of but it would never even cross my mind to get verbally abusive with them.
Poor Danneel Harris (as I predicted) is getting masses of really hateful and nasty tweets sent her way from a handful of insane (and I mean this literally) Jensen fangirls.
It just makes me sad that this stupid small minority is ruining everything for the rest of us.
