The SPN marathon continues

hilsRight, so I'm onto S4 now and here's where things get slightly different. S4 was the reason I decided to do the whole rewatch in the first place, because I have found that watching the show as a casual viewer is VERY different to watching it as a member of the fandom (yes, I can admit it now). The first time around I did not enjoy S4 very much and was pretty much set to ditch the show until I started shipping Dean/Castiel.
People asked me at the time what it was that I wasn't enjoying but I couldn't really explain it. So I'm going to do my usual episode ramblings while I watch, but then I'm going to go and see what I said about each episode right after it aired and compare
Yes, this whole thing is one big fandom science experiment. LOL!
Sadly cannot turn the recaps off on download files. LOL! I've got kind of used to not having to sit through them.
This episode is very pretty. I love the direction in it.

Aww! Dean's been alive for less than 24 hours and he's snarking with his brother already. Can't they just hug some more?
Dean is looking very pretty in this episode I must say. The boys clearly both went to 'increase your hotness' school over the summer
Oh, and the lies have started already. Sam's lying about Ruby, Dean's lying about not remembering Hell. It's no wonder they both wind up so fucked up by the end of the season.
Hee! Aww! Pimped out Impala. Dean is not happy. I suspect the car isn't either. LOL! What is that crap Sam is listening to anyway?
Dean is being an ass again. Calling Sam on his psychic stuff. Why does he think Sam would be using it anyway? As I recall he hasn't done anything so far except have Ruby offer to train him. God, how bad is that I can't remember S3 already and I only finished it two weeks ago.

It's actually really clever the way this one episode sets up the tone for the whole season. Dean's lying about going to find Castiel, Sam's lying about using his powers to kill demons. Isn't that pretty much the S4 plot? LOL!
Oh, looks like Cas has been burning the eyeballs out of more people. Actually, is that a demon in the diner? Maybe he just sent it back to hell with his magic touch.
Yeah, Ruby sucks now she's not pretending not to be some random girl Sam picked up. LOL!

Ok, let's see what I said the first time around
Ok, let me get the superficial out of the way first. When exactly did Jared get so hot? Seriously, I have never been a Sam girl and all of a sudden I'm practically salivating over him. Has he miraculously changed over the summer or something?
Right, I spent the majority of this episode convinced that this was Dean hallucinating and he was still in hell. The ending knocked me for six, but thinking about it of course it makes sense. We've had talk about demons and Lucifer for the past three years and I think it was notsowise_sage who mentioned that no one ever talks about the other side. Well, now they have. I'm already hooked and I can't wait to see where they take this.
Who else thought Sam as a psychic badass was totally awesome? OMG he's so cool now! I love it!
I'm pretty sure the demon in the diner was someone from BSG but there's no cast lists up anywhere yet. Anyone?
And Ruby is in a new body. LOL! Love they way they can keep the character and change the actress if they want to
I loved Bobby and Sam both trying to attack Dean. They are such an adoreable dysfunctional family
And Sam pimped out the Impala and thinks of it as his car now. LOL! I can see a battle for the car coming up. Hehe!

This conversation is almost word for word the same conversation that Sam and Dean has in Houses of the Holy. Sloppy. Also, Sam seems pretty determined to still believe even after the last 'angel' he saw turned out to be a ghost.
God, I'm sorry, there really is just something about the way Genevieve delivers her lines that's like nails on a chalkboard. I don't know if it's just her voice but argh!
Hehe! Sam forgot the pie. LOL! No one gets between Dean and his pie.

It's really interesting that Cas is so smug in these first few episodes. And kind of a dick, like Dean says. It'll be interesting to see at what point he starts caring about Dean and being a bit more of the woobie!Cas we see towards the end of the season

Hmm...I liked this episode, but I'm not really sure what the point of it was. It was nice to see that they have continuity and I loved seeing Ronald back again. Clearly it was the work of the mandroid ;)
I know I shouldn't have laughed but when they announced the apocalpyse like it was some huge thing all I could think was 'pfft, they had the threat of the apocalypse every other week in Buffy'
Still, it was a well written episode. Sam and Dean are both more pretty than I've ever seen them before and I find Castiel strangely attractive too
And Dean continues to be obsessed with pie. LOL!
Well, it didn't take me long to latch onto Castiel. LOL!
I can definitely see the point of this a little more this time around though. I mean it's definitely just a setting up of the arc plot but it wasn't boring or anything. I think the first time around I didn't really see why they dragged back all the people Sam and Dean had failed to save but I guess it was just a little reminder that there are always casualties in a war or something
