Title: Queensguard

Summary: "The fifth season of Supernatural, CW's paranormal drama, is scheduled for a return to our screens in autumn. Show creator Eric Kripke is reported to be "thrilled" with the news that show stars, Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles, have confirmed they'll be returning as brothers Dean and Sam Winchester. CW sources confirm that shooting is due to start soon with the first episode due to air on September 20th, 2012."
It's been nearly three years since the war against the alien race known as the Others changed the world and nearly four months since they were beaten back by Earth's natural superweapons, the dragons. Jared's looking forward to reconnecting with his best friend and picking up life where he left off. It doesn't seem much to ask but after three years, how much has really changed? And are the secrets Jensen's hiding better left alone?
My comments: This one has to go first because out of all the fics I've read so far for this challenge this one is my favourite. It's an amazing blend of non-AU RPS, fantasy and sci-fi. Go read it, even if you don't read any of the others. I've already been back and read it twice more since it was posted!

Title: Suburban Cape Cod Blues (You Can Find Anything At Wal-Mart)

Summary: Country music superstar Jensen Ackles has a secret. Or he did until the tabloids got a hold of pictures of him in a compromising position with another man. Now his agent has shipped him off to some tiny town in Massachusetts where they've never heard of country music to lay low until the scandal dies down. Everything is going according to plan until Jensen meets Jared, an English Professor at the local university. Jared devotes all his free time to LGBT awareness and issues while Jensen would rather just not talk about it. Nonetheless he finds himself falling for Jared. Eventually, though, Jensen has to choose between his multi-million dollar music career-- the life he always thought he wanted-- and true love.
My comments: Sweet, funny, a bit angsty. Everything you could want from a fic

Title: A Place in This World

Summary: Popular sci-fi author J Ross, a.k.a. Jensen Ackles, escapes from the noise and pressures of NYC to the suburbs of Northeast Ohio after the passing of his grandmother. When he meets his neighbor, speech therapist Jared Padalecki, and Jared’s little girl Kara, Jensen’s carefully controlled and ordered world gets turned upside down.
My comments: I saw a couple of days ago that someone had criticised this on Fandom Secrets because there was no major conflict in the story. You know, sometimes you just need some fluff. I don't normally like or read kid!fics but I enjoyed this one a lot

Title: Stained Glass Masquerade

Summary: When his life takes a turn for the worse, the offer of a job with the exclusive Mayfair Group seems like a sign that the fates are finally finding in Jared’s favor. In return for an impressive paycheck, all he is required to do is look after Charlie, who, when not Imprinted with serial killers (or serial daters) happens to be the most likable guy in the world. It’s perfectly easy to ignore the darker aspects of his job, that is until Charlie is Imprinted with his own personality and the line between reality and illusion is eradicated from the equation. Dollhouse AU.
My comments: I was a bit dubious when I saw this was a J2 version of Dollhouse but it actually works really well. It's not a direct re-telling of the series, and I don't think you need to have seen the show to enjoy the fic

Title: Doves of St John's

Summary: In the ashes of 20th century America a ragtag group fights for the right to live against the night crawlers, once-people now affected by a deadly virus that deadens moral judgment and increases a lust for blood. Within this group Jensen, a man disillusioned from the tragic death of his family, finds himself drawn to a certain night crawler who appears different than the others. But can he be trusted?
My comments: I think most of you know I have a vampire kink. This is an awesome fic. That's all that needs to be said really. LOL


Title: The Protocols of Friendship

Summary: Jared loves Jensen. Just not like that. He has a huge house, and a best friend who's practically homeless so asking him to move in makes perfect sense and isn't weird at all. Jensen loves Jared, most definitely like that, but after apparently misreading all the signs and jeopardizing their friendship and the show, he isn't about to trust his instincts where Jared is concerned ever again. But when Jensen starts pulling away, Jared discovers that maybe there's no like that, only them, and he might have realized it far too late.
My comments: I think what I loved most about this was that it feels realistic. Their first time together isn't all fireworks and the most amazing sex ever encountered. It's just natural and sweet and funny
