When the fangirls hit France
Jun. 24th, 2009 04:12 pmI know you guys are mostly interested in the Pierrefonds pictures but these things have to be done in chronological order. Yes, I am evil. It comes from having
takadainmate as an evil overlord. It's all Bradley's fault anyway
This is not a dialup friendly post btw. Lots of photos as well as a journal entry
We had to get up at insane o'clock this morning to catch the Eurostar, but it was nice. We grabbed breakfast at St Pancras and I crashed on the train so we seemed to be in Paris in no time.
marn_barn met us at the station and we trekked to our hotel. Once we'd checked in and dumped our stuff we headed to the Medieval Museum. There were many unicorns, headless statues and Horns of Gondor. Oh, and angel!porn. And knights wrestling in a filthy manner. Hee!

The first Horn of Gondor

There were many unicorn tapestries

See!

We all LOLed at the audio guide sign which was a unicorn wearing headphones

Another Horn of Gondor

marn_barn started snickering as soon as she saw this. Yes, we are 12

You can't tell me this isn't angel!porn. Look, you have an angel (Castiel) and a bunch of naked men. One of them is even bearing his arse (Dean). Castiel has a Horn of Gondor I notice. I think my brain just exploded

The outside of the Medieval Museum
The museum also had what they claimed to be a Unicorn Wood but it was actually just a couple of trees and some shrubberies. Lame.
They did have a medicine garden though where all the healing herbs were grown.
takadainmate and I decided it was where Gaius met Uther for their secret liaisons and we named it 'The Garden of Old Man Love'

Me and
takadainmate in the Garden of Old Man Love
There was also an actual Garden of Love which consisted of a couple of dead trees and some bricks. We took this as a testament to something

The Garden of Love
There was also a Celestial Garden (which made me think of Castiel, not that it takes much) which was wild and overgrown

The Celestial Garden

The back of the Medieval Museum
We stopped for lunch and then headed to Notre Dame. This is my third trip to Paris and the first time I've made it to the cathedral so that made me happy. I've wanted to go here since I was about 16 so well over ten years. It was stunning, but a shame it was so crowded

Notre Dame

I'm not sure who these guys are but they look like they should be in Lord of the Rings

More angels. It was a definite theme to the trip

Just look at all the detail. All of this was carved by hand

The famous rose window

The stained glass in this place is absolutely incredible

After that we walked across half of Paris to get to the Tourist Information office. We found out where to catch the bus to Parc Asterix and how to get to the Magic Museum.
takadainmate and
j_apollo got genuinely asked if they were magicians which we all thought was hilarious. We decided afte that to form the London Women's Magician Guild. ROFL.

The River Seine

The cool building on the left is the Palace of Justice

I don't actually know what this building is but I thought it looked cool
The Magic Museum was pretty cool. Mostly it was full of tat but we did get a free magic show from a rather cute magician and there were amusing machines that fondles your hands so that was fun

Not just a museum but an academy. OOH!
We went to a supermarket on the way back to the hotel and spent the evening eating bread with meat and cheese. We also had wine from a screw top bottle because we had no corkscrew. We are classy! The cheap wine was actually really nice though and we watched some Merlin while we were eating
Fandom holidays FTW!
Parc Asterix tomorrow. We're gonna die!

Our delicious dinner
