So, a couple of months back my boss's boss said there might be job opportunities coming up in Germany and asked for anyone who was interested to let him know for when more details became available
So, today the following conversation occurred
BB: Are you still interested in going to Germany?
Me: Yeeeees...
BB: Oh, good. We want you to go next month for a minimum of 18 months. Can you tell me on Wednesday whether you want to go
Me: Bzuh? Do you have any more information about the job?
BB: Like what?
Me: Uh, a job decription
BB: It's IT Support
Me (feeling enthused with the lack of details being provided): Whereabouts in Germany is it?
BB: I don't know. So, let me know on Wednesday ok?
Cue massive flailing and panicking from me. Two days to decide whether to move to another country or not based on very little information.
My boss and one of the other guys in my office have been raving about how awesome it would be. Greg (who is my age and more like me than either of the others) was a bit more dubious.
I think if the opportunity had come up last year I might have gone for it but I've made a whole bunch of new friends recently and I really don't want to leave all that. Plus with
flickums getting married next year I kind of want to be around to help out with the planning and stuff if I'm needed.
Plus (and I know this is lame) I'll be living in what is essentially a dorm room. Can you imagine me with no internet access? Seriously all my hobbies revolve around being online. I would go INSANE!
So, I've decided not to go for it which makes me feel slightly cowardly but at the same time happy. I think I can live with that
