goth_clark's recommendation I have just finished reading Civil War and Civil War: Frontline
I'm probably even less familiar with the Marvel universe than I am with DC but I still found this a really gripping series of comics. Everytime I see Captain America I feel sad because I know how it all ends.
It was amazingly well written because, like the main characters, by the end you've totally lost sight of what each side was fighting for.
