Ok, not over
Dec. 12th, 2007 02:09 pmThe case has gone to
stop_plagiarism and they are investigating. Essentially someone will read both stories and make a decision
danceswithgary has done a comparison of the stories
Looking at the definition of plagiarism I still maintain I have done nothing wrong
Plagiarised work is presented so that it is still recognisably similar next to the original work. For example, a scrap of dialogue, or an image/metaphor that is the same in two pieces is NOT plagiarism.
Little or no further thought goes into plagiarised work, ie. text has been copied and pasted, perhaps with some minor alterations. Shared theme(s) between two pieces is not enough to constitute plagiarism.
Presenting plagiarised work with basic alterations to character, setting etc. IS still plagiarism. For example, if a Buffy fiction was presented to the Harry Potter fandom.
It's essentially down to the mod though. Just have to wait and see what happens
