Thoughts about Lex

hilsYou know, the more I think about it the more annoyed I get about the way the writers of Smallville handled Lex's journey. I know it shouldn't surprise me since bad characterisation appears to be their forte (Helen and Jason randomly turning evil for example) but I was still expecting something a little more dramatic
In fact, Lex's transistion to evil is so random I don't even know when it happened. After Onyx maybe?
It's like towards the end of Season 4 the writers suddenly thought 'oh, wait, how are we going to make Lex become evil? Oh, who cares, let's just have him do some evil stuff in the next episode.'
