Another rant

hilsOk, I need to get something off my chest. Well a couple of things really that I spotted in Gilmore Girls and it annoyed me. Uh, it might be seen as a bit offensive but really it's just directed at the writers of the show
Ok, I am insane. I accept this. But I studied linguistics at A-Level so it just annoyed me
1. I don't know what episode it was but there was one where everyone at the Inn had to dress in period costume and talk 'Old English'. Uh, Old English is Anglo Saxon. What they were talking about isn't even Middle English. At best it was Early Modern. I appreciate that America is nowhere near as old at England but please, these are supposed to be smart people. DO SOME RESEARCH! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_english
2. Debate class. Why do you need a class just to teach you how to debate? Over here we work debates into other subjects so we're putting what we've learned into practise. I don't know exactly how the system works in the US but surely the time could be put to better use. How long does it take to learn basic debate skills anyway?
Ok, rant over. You all hate me and think I'm crazy I'm sure. Ah well, if you hadn't worked that out already then you haven't been reading my journal very long ;)
