Photo post #5
Oct. 8th, 2006 02:18 pmThere was a Royal Naval Museum at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Half of it was about general naval life and the other was purely about Nelson. I took a few photos of each half but unfortunately I can't remember what some of the things are. Oops. Maybe
drbillbongo will remember

Uh...a figurehead from a ship. I can't remember which one

Biscuits. The magnifying glass is so you can identify which is the lesser of two weevils ;)

Some guy looking through a telescope at the wall

I thought this looked like kinky slash ;)

Helm!

Nelson. And we are free to touch him ;)

This was cool. Based on a cast of Nelson's face which was taken while he was still alive (photo to come in a bit) they were able to work out exactly what Nelson looked like and make this wax figure. You can't tell here but he was a lot smaller than you would think. About 5'7 I would say

Quite handsome, no?

A replica of one of Emma Hamilton's dresses

I thought this was quite a nice touch

Another artists impression of Nelson

The cast of Nelson's face

For all you Treasure Island fans out there. This is Admiral Benbow
