What is it? Here's the word from the owner herself
bltgs_challenge has been created for a massive challenge I've been thinking about creating for a long time, and finally have.
Better Living Through Gratuitous Smut.
Long title, but should be interesting to see what happens.
Rules of the challenge? You join the community, and e-mail the mod (me) to make it known you are joining the challenge. Of course, you can join in just to read the eventual stories that come out, as well... Once you express your interest in writing for the challenge, a random pairing will be assigned to you. Keep in mind, these pairings are of random characters throughout the BtVS/AtS fandom. It might be het, it might be slash, it may be AU/fantasy. If you are unhappy with your first assignment (which is completely random and will not be influenced by author's preference) you may e-mail the mod for a different pick. You may only do this once. Also, should you request a 2nd draw for a pairing, your first one will be lost, and you will no longer have the opportunity to write for the that first pairing. You will be stuck with the second pairing.
This should be both interesting as well as extremely challenging.
Any and all stories that are created with the pairings MUST be R/NC-17 in nature, although PG-13 versions will be accepted as long as the smut is alluded to in a manner that a.) doesn't broach the rating barrier and b.) at the same time, gives the reader a pretty damn good idea of what the characters are doing. Stories must also be kept within the boundaries of canon. This will be the most challenging aspect, since some of the pairings are truly bizarre and outlandish. Deal with it and view it as an opportunity to challenge your brainstorming abilities.
All stories resulting from the challenge must be posted to the community, although feel free to post copies anywhere you want. Please do refer to the challenge community when posting elsewhere, however...simply for publicity, because I don't want this to be a one-shot challenge. I'd like to make it ongoing, if possible.
Join now, since I plan to start the drawings/assignments of pairings on Wednesday, January 21st. Entrants will have three weeks to the day to have their story finished. Minimum word length is 1000 words.
