An interesting theory from
mrthursday
Based on Dracula’s infamous quote (“Your power is rooted in darkness”) and Giles quick comments about the beginning of this world (“It didn’t start as a paradise”), I think the slayer is the direct off shoot of…First Evil,
In Judeo-Christian Myth (and Islamic for that matter), ultimate evil (Qlippoth Satan/Lucifer or Iblis respectively) is the product of ultimate good (well not so much in Jewish legend but bear with me).
In the Buffy Universe, the world started evil with good forces eventually gaining the upper hand but evil always threatening to return (oh so very Lovecraft!). So it makes sense for the ultimate force for good in the Buffy universe to be the product of the ultimate evil.
The Slayer is the daughter of the First Evil. Mark my words!
