My weekend

Well, I'm finally in a coherant state of mind and am able to type up my weekend.

Friday - Had a nice lie in, finished packing and then got my taxi to the station. I really didn't think Bury St Edmunds was that far away but I was on various trains for a total of four and a half hours. I had to go to Peterbrough, then Cambridge and finally Bury. On the plus side I did get a lot of reading done but I'll talk about that in a minute.

Bury is nice, reminds me a lot of Harrogate which is also nice. Didn't really do much on Friday. My friend Ros met me at the station and took me back to her place. She wanted to go to Evensong at Bury cathedral so I went along. I didn't actually go to the service but I went for a walk round the church and did a bit of writing. Unfortunately I was tired so what I came up with was a pile of crap.

After the service we went back to Ros' and she cooked for me. Not long after that we both realised how tired we were and I got into bed. Ros had a call from one of the many men she fancies and was still on the phone when I fell asleep.

Saturday - Had a very pleasant day. Slept in which is always nice and then we went into Bury for lunch. Met up with Emma, a girl we both know from Uni which was nice. After lunch we went shopping and I spent way too much money. I bought a pair of leather trousers, a purple velvet shirt and a silver cross necklace which looks very similar to this one.

In the evening we had chinese takeaway and watched Erin Brockovich. Found it quite boring really.

Sunday - Was forced to sit around for 2 hours while Ros died her hair and did various little jobs. Unfortunately I'd finished the book I was reading and was therefore forced to watch Sunday morning tv. Dear God, it was a soul numbing experience.

Anyway, we were finally able to go out and we wandered around Bury again. I bought a new book (Narcissus in Chains - Anita Blake book 10). Ros bought me Michelle Branch's Spirit Room album as a birthday present and I treated myself to the South Park Movie soundtrack.

Ros went to church and I was a heathen, continuing to wander around until it was finished. We went back to hers and chilled until it was time for me to go.

Well, that was pretty much it. One thing that struck me this weekend was that I feel that Ros and I are finally starting to drift apart. We've been best friends all through uni and we always used to do girly things together. We've never really had much in common but we always used to be able to laugh about the men we fancied etc. Now I just find it exhausting. She's one of these people that fancies pretty much any man that shows her attention and unfortunately at the moment there are loads of them, plus one that has actually asked her out. There's only so much I can listen to about her men before I need a break.

Of course the other topic of conversation was James, the guy I met at her barbeque. She's determined that I'm going to marry him or something and the more pushy she gets the less interested I'm becoming. He should be getting in touch with me this week for our 'date'. I guess I'll just have to see what happens. At the moment I really can't be bothered though.

Right then, time for me to talk about Anita Blake again. I finished book 9 this weekend and am now onto book 10. If you don't want to be spoiled then don't go any further.

Ok, I really enjoyed book 9. We got to see a LOT of Edward who has always interested me, despite his small appearances in the other books. It was a great read and I couldn't put it down.

Then I got onto book 10. Oh dear god, what is Laurell K. Hamilton DOING? I'm probably only a quarter of the way through the book and already Anita has had sex with pretty much ALL the principle main characters. It's like reading some sort of porno. Added to that there's now a chance she might have been made into a wereleapord. Grrr. Anyway, I'm going to have to finish reading it now I've started but I really hope this is the last book. I think she's got to the running out of ideas stage.
