2 main topics of discussion today. My writing course and Buffy.

Course first. Have to say I was a little disappointed. Tutor is nice enough but seems a bit of a scatterbrain and not really the focused person I was expecting.

We had to tasks in my first class. The first was when the tutor gave us the first 6 words of a sentence and we were asked to carry on. I found this quite easy and I was pretty pleased with what I came up with.

Second task was to write about an early childhood memory of hiding something. Didn't enjoy this at all. I find it difficult to write about things that really happened and still make it interesting. Then it got worse. We had to write our phone number down the side of a page and then convert the childhood story over, only using the number of words that each digit represented. So say my number was this (it isn't)

555-436

The first sentence could only have 5 words and so on. It seemed utterly pointless to me. Apparently it was to help us develop our editing skills. Uh-huh, whatever.

Then for our 'homework' we have to write 350 about what we can see out of our window? 350??? I've never written so little in my life. How an I convey everything I want to say in that amount? I feel so frustrated and restrained. Grr

Anyway. I'll stick it out. Only another 9 weeks to go.

Buffy. Yes, I ranted and raved about the crapness of Season 7 but now I've found myself growing quite excited. I've seen the screencaps and read the full summery. I dunno, I guess I'm just not ready to give up on the show just yet. I got a buzz when I updated my site today that I haven't felt for a long time.

I also had a reminder about just how nice the majority of people in the Buffy community are. I e mailed this girl asking if she would mind me using one of her S7 screencaps on my site. Within a couple of hours I had a reply and she offered to e mail me screencaps every week so I don't have to go searching all the sites for the decent ones. So sweet.

Well, must trundle off to bed. Everyone in the US gets to see the Buffy premiere tonight and I have to wait ages. *pout*
