Sleepy

Why does Christmas always leave everyone feeling exhausted? I mean its the one day of the year where people do the least (well, those of us who didn't have to cook anyway). Yet I'm knackered.

Still, got lots of nice prezzies and have generally had fun today. Got Season 1 of Angel, Series 1 of Randall and Hopkirk and Bridget Jones' Diary on DVD.

The usual array of CDs, chocolate and stuff.

What I really loved was the books I got. Cluess in the Kitchen which is an idiots guide to cooking (I'll need it when I move out of here for good). Got a set of 3 books, Language Reference, Quotations and Proverbs and a dictionary. Also got a creative writing coursebook.

It might not sound like much, but they really meant a lot to me. Especially the writing book and the dictionary set. It just made me feel like my parents support my writing. I know I'm still in the early stages, playing around with other people's characters and developing my own style. But I think that fanfic is giving me the confidence to eventually move on to my own work. Plus it's fun.

Anyway, today just showed me that the folks don't see what I do in my spare time as a waste of it. It just made me happy.

As for how I spent my day, slobbed around until Christmas Dinner (which was lovely). Afterwards I watched Tomb Raider with my Dad (nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be). Then I ploughed my way through Randall and Hopkirk. I really thought there were more than 6 episodes.

Played chess with Flickums and won the first game, lost the second. I'd forgotten how much fun chess was until today. Have now ordered myself a Buffy chess set.

Well, that's been it really. Pretty good day, like I said.

Last night I amazed myself by churning out a reasonably long fic in 3 hours. Not sure how I did it exactly, but it was for a good cause.

One of the mailing lists I'm on decided to run a secret santa thing with fanfics. I wrote mine and sent it off, but then I got an e mail at 8pm last night asking me if I would mind doing another one as some of the people hadn't recieved theirs and the person running it hadn't been able to get hold of the missing writers. Full of the Christmas spirit I agreed (it helped that she called me prolific when asking me. LOL)

So, I spent my Christmad Eve writing like crazy. Still, felt pretty proud of myself when I was done. The fic wasn't amazing but I got it done and the person waiting had something to read. I even managed to beta someone else's fic too.

That's what Christmas is all about to me
