Hockey Road Trip - Day 11
Feb. 13th, 2017 10:31 pmWe had an early start because we had to drop
makaze77 off at the airport. Saying goodbye was sad because it meant the trip was finally pretty much over.
We had a few hours before my flight so
morganoconner and I left the car at the airport and took the train downtown to spend a couple of hours at the aquarium.
I've actually been to Boston Aquarium before. It was a few years ago (4 or 5 years I think?) when I was in Boston for a Random Acts staff retreat and we had some free time afterwards. But I love aquariums and I don't mind seeing the same ones again. Who doesn't want to spend their last day of holiday looking at penguins?
The aquarium has changed a bit since I was last there but it was mostly still the same. Of course we spent most of the time looking at the penguins

We named this one Conor because it's the smallest breed of penguin :-p

We enjoyed the tentacles

The view was nice from the cafe window

Hee! We got to hold pretend penguins. Actually picking up the photos was fun. The guy showing us our pictures asked us what animal we liked best and when we said penguins he gave us some extra penguin photos and a penguin Christmas decoration. So sweet.
Sadly, then it was time to say goodbye. I am one of those paranoid people who has to get to the airport super-early just in case there's any problems. So I said a sad farewell to
morganoconner and headed through security.
Airport security is always a lot nicer when you're leaving the country :-p
My carry-on bag got flagged when it went through the scanner because it had my large Mountain Lodge candle in it. The security guy took it out to make sure it wasn't concealing a bomb or anything but he was really friendly and was telling me how nice the candle smelled. Even with that getting through security probably only took about 15 minutes so I had plenty of time to kill before my flight. Took advantage of the free wifi and uploaded the last of my photos to FB (if you think I spammed you here - my road trip photo album on fb contains 575 photos and that doesn't include either of the Pens game or the Caps game)
As a rather pleasant end to the trip I ended up sat next to an amazingly attractive Eastern European man on the way home. Like, he was breathtakingly attractive and very polite and apologetic every time I had to move to let him in or out of his seat. He went to sleep which was probably good for my self-esteem because I was reading a romance novel and ended up crying. LOL.
And that was the end of the trip. Got back into London at 5am, grabbed some breakfast at Kings Cross (BA - a cereal bar is NOT breakfast) and hopped on my train home.
Getting over the jetlag took forever! I corrected my sleep pattern pretty much straight away but I felt run down and tired for over a week no matter how much sleep I got. Am pretty much back to normal now (or as normal as it gets for me)
I have one more blog post to do about this trip which is something a bit silly and fun and then I'm done.
I've decided to have a go at scrapbooking since I kept so many of my tickets and stuff from the trip. Never done it before so I have no idea how it's going to go. Have already spend a fortune in Hobbycraft and I'm still not sure I have enough stuff :-p
