Went to Easby Abbey and church yesterday with Mum-Ra. I do love wandering around ruins. It always amazes me how much some of these places have survived for hundreds of years. I can't imagine any buildings being built now lasting that long

The frescoes on the wall are 12th century

Fabulous murals! And I suspect you're right about modern buildings, they're lucky to last 100 years.

It's even worse in the US I think. You guys have the tendency to knock stuff down when it gets a bit old. LOL

Great photos, I love the frescoes. Can you imagine the Millenium Dome lasting 100 years. It's a miracle it's still there now.

What I wouldn't give to live close enough to something like this that it wouldn't take a 6-1/2 hour plane ride plus a three hour wait for said plane, plus getting there from when I land.

Thanks for sharing!

Those are great pictures. It isn't the same (obviously!), but since I don't get to travel much I especially love seeing people's pictures.

Brilliant pics! Ruined buildings stop looking man-made after a while and seem part of nature, don't they? Like naturally occurring out-crops of rock.
