I was just thinking randomly. Supernatural, unlike a lot of shows, only really has a main cast of two. Jared and Jensen are pretty much in it to the end I'd imagine because if one of them wanted to leave there wouldn't be much of a show left

Or would there?

I think wouldn't be the same, but I'd give it a chance.

I think I would too. Maybe.

I said I would watch it if it was Sam and not Dean, but that is only because I'm more interested in what is going on with Sam, and where it will lead.

To be honest, I don't think either Jared or Jensen could carry the show on on their own. I think it needs the interaction between the two characters. I have been unhappy with all the Dean centric episodes this season, and suspect I would be the same with too many Sam episodes as well. What pulled me in was the brothers relationship.

I think without them both it would be less than half the show.

You could be right. It'll be interesting to see what happens I guess.

One of the drawbacks about SPN for me is the fact that it does only have two central characters, as I tend to be drawn to more ensemble casts. So if we lost the central relationship on the show, I'd probably be out.

It's certainly hard to imagine it without both of them

I would be so sad if one of them left :(
even if it was Sam (I'm a Dean girl) it just wouldn't be right :(

I definitely think it wouldn't be the same with only one of them

I wouldn't like it as much because it is so much about the brothers. But, having said that, I would give a couple of episodes a go if it was Dean and Cas. Other than that, probably not.

(Although I would consider Sam and Ruby, but only if it was Ruby from season three, not season four - you know, the good Ruby (good as is good actress))

Oh, god, I miss the old Ruby so bad! This new one is simply awful!

From: [identity profile] ionaonie.livejournal.com
I know! She's terrible. It's made worse by the fact that old Ruby was so damn brilliant. She was a bit of a tough act to follow.

New Ruby is definitely the weak link in an otherwise wonderful cast.

Yup, I totally agree there. Here's hoping they ditch her next year for a new new Ruby. Or maybe they'll just kill her off. Maybe Castiel could smite her.

A new Ruby woud be cool because I like the idea of Ruby. But, if they are going to keep this Ruby, death is the only way.

I'm sure Castiel would be happy to (esp if Dean asking him to)

I think she's going to have to go at some point. It wouldn't surprise me if Sam kills her on his route to the dark side actually.

How's this? I don't watch the show because Grey's Anatomy is on and Mum likes that show. I think it is kinda cool, so I watch with her and that means not watching Supernatural. BUT --

If I did watch it. I would still watch it with only one Winchester brother. Though I would rather have Jensen Ackles remain if I could only choose one bro.

Hehe! Works for me *g*

You need to convince your mum that Supernatural is better than Grey's Anatomy. Because it is.

Lol! Sorry, I answered for Cas on principle, but having thought about it I think I'd watch this show WHATEVER :)

I'd probably prefer it if Dean stayed, but it wouldn't surprise me if they managed to pull off something great with Sam anyways.

I think what I've always loved about SPN is the family dynamic it has. Every other show I've watched has had a large chunk of itself taken up with romance - Buffy/Angel/Spike, Xander/Willow/Cordy/Anya, Willow/Tara, Clark/Lana/Chloe, Clex :p, in BSG everyone was getting it on, etc etc. But SPN has ALWAYS been about the BROTHERS, the various flings they have with others come and go, and it was nice for me to have a show without any ships I think. Maybe that's why I never got into the Wincest, I liked the family thing too much to want to dampen it with slash.

So, yeah, my point with that is I'd be happy to see how Sam and/or Dean deal with their lives if that family dynamic was lost. We've got glimpses already of them falling apart without each other, so I imagine it might be interesting to see them actually having to live with it for good. Not that I WANT it to happen! :p

Plus, now Cas has turned up and changed everything because now I DO have a ship. Man, I can't WAIT to see what's gonna happen next and it's been FAR too long since a show has done that to me :D

I think you and I have had a very similar journey in regards to SPN. It's never been a shippy show for me until a few weeks ago.

Well in my very tiny Supernatural experience, I'd say that the brother relationship is what drew me to SPN and I don't think the actors would work as well on their own. But I think I'd still watch to see how it turned out!

I think I'd give it a chance, but only if they introduced more female character, who are regulars and aren't killed off. The excuse that it's about Dean and Sam and so that's why there aren't really any regular females, doesn't really hold if one of the boys dies.

(However, I would so watch it if it was about Dean, and Anna and Castiel were in it.)

To me, the show is about Winchester brothers, so, if any of them is out, I'm out to.

I can't say for certain I'd stop watching the show. If one of them died and the last couple of episodes was the other one getting revenge, then I'd watch. If we had a whole season without one of the brothers, then no. For me SpN is about two brothers; without them both then it's not the same show.

the show without the Winchester brothers wouldn't be Supernatural anymore for me.

i've read an interview with Kripke, Jen and Jay about the show. generally they were bitching about the whole thing because it's already four years, they are away from their family, friends, gf (wtf? lol!) Kripke really wants to stick to the five years plan he made at the beginning but the network would like to do more. He said that they can do it but without him. and when he goes then the J's will go too. so, yeah, SPN without one of them would die. sad but true.

Knowing the CW I can just see them trying to do SPN without Kripke and J2. LOL! It'll just be the possessed car driving around by itself.

I'm such a bitch, because I could deal with Sam being gone as long as I had Dean and Cas left. At least there would be lots of angst and Castiel could try to heal Dean's tortured soul.
