Well, we totally called Micah being Rebel.
I don't understand why they let us think Daphne was dead, have the shock reveal of her being alive again only for her to die for real without doing anything. Pointless.
Although we did have Mohinder comforting Matt and re-establishing himself as Matt's boyfriend
In fact most of this episode was rather pointless. I did like Tracy sacrificing herself for Micah though, just because the special effects were cool.
Oh, and baby Matt Parkman is kind of adorable.

Date: 2009-04-05 12:31 am (UTC)I think the thing with Daphne was to make up for the rather crap ending they gave her - I know a lot of people didn't like it, though I also know a few people that don't like her - anyway, I think it was kind of a mini-epic way for her to go, resolve Matt's feelings for her since they tried to create a mini-epic love story (slash aside, this show isn't really about the loving - no relationships have been built on screen).
Mohinder has moved back into the light, obviously he's been there by default since Nathan put his nutso plan into place - but from the instinctive predator of post injection Mohinder, to the desperate work for anyone who promises a cure, post realisaion of post injection Mohinder - he'd never really been shown to care for anyone. He'd built up a wall around himself, and his mutation. Now he can start his spiral down into clueless, naive, but sweet Mohinder.
(Don't try reading the last paragraph out loud... )
Traci and Micah I actually think was moving, Micah is so desperate to be a hero, and he desperately wants his mum to be proud, but she's dead (though I still say nothing's sure until you've seen the body - bearing mind Nicky's alter-ego isn't in itself a power, it's her means of controlling said power), so Traci had to do, she was still family, after a fashion.
Yes, it was predictable that he'd be Rebel - but I did think he had more street smarts about him than I expected, he's been away for a while, and he's changed a lot. It helps that when you think about it, we've no idea what the timeline is, there's no counters, months come and go, seasons rise and fall - nothing is fixed temporally. What I find interesting is that he's contacted each of the Heroes in such a way that they trust him, and believe him, and will do whatever he tells them. That's beyond a skill, a natural quality of a leader, and sets him apart from many of the other characters who's skills, are usually tied in with their powers. For instance Traci was really a character you would describe as cold as ice with or without her powers - it helped her get to where she is. I'd like to say Nathan was like that - he's a skilled politician - but I don't really think we should call it a skill, since so far he's nearly destroyed New York, been conned by the image of a dead man, and then gone Guantamano on anyone who's different.
So yeah - I think Micah, if they don't kill him off, could be one of the most interesting of the Heroes. It's a shame we'll never see him as an adult, but I think he would fill the role of Whistler, or the role of Giles, and other such wise leader type roles that are present in many other comics. Unfortunately, as he's a child, once the others become aware of this, they'll start to over rule him, and treat him as all adults ultimately treat children, at arms length, and with a wiser than thou attitude.
I think we also saw another stage in the development of Sylar - though I am starting to lose my way with him - I can't keep a fix on his motivation, his desires. They need to give him a mission, a purpose in all this - one that he can stick to, and means something in the grand scheme of things - right now he's just a nail rolling round doing very little, other than what loose nails do - waiting for the directors/writers/producers to pick him up and use him as a nail should be.
Of course Peter nearly powerless doesn't help the Sylar situation, especially with Hiro being powerless (well nearly), there is no foil to Sylar, the only two people with enough power to stand against him, don't have those powers anymore. I think they've written themselves into a corner, now it's like having Doomsday without Superman.
The show needs to find something, it's having some frankly awesome and fantastic moments, but it's also lost a lot of things, and some of the things it's found don't begin to make up for the losses. I hope for season four they can give the Heroes a purpose, and a mission again.

I'm struggling to push a food analogy really... silly path to go down :P

Date: 2009-04-06 02:46 pm (UTC)I also am unsure if Traci is really dead or not. My boyfriend and I argued this point after both the tear and the wink at HRG. I said she sacrificed herself and the tear was because she was sad she did it and the wink was because she was glad Micah got away. My sweetie said the tear was just melting ice (he's so inhuman that way sometimes!) and the wink was because she really couldn't be killed by freezing herself...
I guess time will tell!
