I think the Smallville and Merlin fandoms have spoiled me with their lack of badfic. Or, if there is badfic I haven't seen much of it

SPN seems to be fairly ripe with it, but there is a decent number of good fics too so I'm not going to complain. It's just an observation. It's just sad that I read one this evening that was pretty good save for the fact that it hadn't had a beta and was chock with typos.

What I do find interesting is all the different characterisations of Castiel out there. A lot of people write him as almost childlike, where he knows nothing of how the world works and others write him as almost human. Both work for me to be honest, I just love how differently people interpret his character.

I have also had another thought. Castiel is an angel and a solider, right. So that makes him Warrior Angel *snicker*

God, is it bad that I want to write a Lex/Castiel fic now?

I've always told people that the level of quality of SV fics was generally above that of other fandoms..and now the Merlin fandom is following suit.

And god Lex would love Warrior Angel Castiel. So hot.

I see some other authors contemplating Arthur/Lex.

If you want a fandom with really dire fics try Roswell. Dark Angel too, but they at least have a couple of good writers.

I only read SPN fics that are recced, but even then there are writers who are recced over and over that aren't really all that good. However, the best fic writer I have ever come across writes SPN...

Yeah, that was the logic behind it. I figure Castiel will be sent to Lex when Lex is at his lowest point, season 7 in my mind.

You have no idea how many badfics there are out there. But I've also read some decent ones. A lot of the time though, I don't bother reading a fic in that fandom unless it's been wrecked because half the time I get very very scared by the typos and grammatical errors. But sometimes there are good ones. =D

As for Lex/Cas, fic fic fic!

SPN has attracted a lot of people new to fandom and writing in general. It's a mixed blessing. A lot of those badfic authors will get better, a lot of them won't.

And Castiel's characterization is... incredibly flexible. I'm really not big on the naive, childlike Castiel. I personally don't think he's clueless when it comes to human customs; I think he knows what humans do and that he knows what "pie" is, but I believe he just doesn't understand those customs or why Dean likes pie so much.

There are a few people who nail his otherwordliness. He's commanding and aware, but still inherently inhuman.

Or at least that's how I interpret him. :)

I'll be digging up more Dean/Cas recs for you today. ^_^

I totally agree with what you're saying about Cas. I do see him as childlike to an extent but then on the other hand I read one where he didn't know how to work a shower :-S

I'm just now starting to watch Supernatural. Season ONE. Jensen is so funny (have you seen the outtakes for season three where he seems to be obsessed with impersonating Dramatic Prairie Dog®? Classic.).

Why have I gotten into it now?

Because Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the coolest man on earth. For serious. Unfortunately, I've only seen one movie (or TV show, for that matter) with him in it that he wasn't killed off. The Accidental Husband.

Hell, he even played the dead character in Watchmen. Give the guy his own series, already. A spin-off of Grey's Anatomy where he helps the people who die at Seattle Grace Hospital find their way to move on... Something that doesn't require him to cover up his awesome tattoos. Or since he played such a convincing fireman in The Accidental Husband, something like Third Watch but cooler.

Or something that he can have his dog, Bisou, costar with him.

Given Lex's obsession with the Kara the angel, and his chasing down of her, and near romantic intimations towards her - well it certainly gives a lot of scope for an alternate Smallville universe, where Castiel and Lex play the "game". Not that Castiel could replace Clark, just it would be an interesting experience, it would obviously play out differently though - Clark's corruptible, Lex's job is to corrupt Lex, how far can Castiel be corrupted?
