My hotel has wireless! YAY! I have to pay for it but it's less than £10 for 24 hours so I figured what the hell.

So, I'm in Glastonbury! It's pretty cool, although I've only been for a brief wander. My hotel is right next to the abbey, which was the main point of my trip so yay!

Went to a wondeful organic resaurant for dinner and have been sat down in the hotel bar writing fic. I am feeling very relaxed and happy. I needed this trip

Found a pub called The King Arthur but it appeared to be full of chavs so opted not to have a drink there. Will take a photo before I leave though.

I'm amazed at the number of magic shops this town has. I've never been into a real magic shop before. I do want to go in but feel slightly anxious as I don't want to look like a total tourist (which I am). I'll try and pluck up the courage tomorrow

So, the plan for tomorrow is the abbey first, then the Chalice Well on the way to the tor. I am rather looking forward to it.

The Chalice Well is lovely. I hope it's sunny for you.

The magic shops are fine! Just like any other shop.

Last time I was in Glastonbury - about 30 years ago - there were signs everywhere saying 'No hippies'!

Hee! Well, I haven't seen any of those, but I'm not a hippie anyway

When I was in Glastonbury 21 years ago, it was a weird mix of New Age-y stuff and the older bits. It was pelting rain when I climbed to the top of the tor and you'd swear the wind was going to sweep you right off your feet. All around, there were people who were clearly doing their energy rituals, but I was amazed at how the wind and the rain and the location combined to form this incredible sense of raw power. Trust me, I believed at that moment.

But there was also, oh, so much tourist crap around, it was unbelievable.

I think it's pretty much the same judging by what I've seen

'Council House And Violent' although not the origin of the word and not a phrase I like :-S

Down in Plymouth they're called Swilley, after the area. Although there's a crossover with Janners.

Where I'm from when kids rebel from uptight middle-class upbringings, they become stoners and wear bluebolts and chains. I think in Glastonbury when you rebel against your stoner hippy parents you become a chav. Sad but true - there's not enough cheap housing in that town that a Glasto chav is the same as the rest of them world across.
