That should be bad in itself but look at him! He looks about seven years old!

And of course the right wing Christian nutjobs are on the case commending him for bringing this baby into the world whilst at the same time criticising sex education.

I saw this on msn yesterday. I think the point that I was a little worried was when he was talking about money and said 'oh yeah I don't get pocket money sometimes my dad gives me £10'. I never thought about sex until I was about 13 and it makes my mind boggles. Ah right wing Christian nut jobs making hypocrisy artistic.

I'm sorry to ask this but I've just started to write my fic again (horrendously inappropriate to bring it up here sorry) but it feels really stilted to me do you mind just looking over the first bit to see if it's alright and it read well? I just read that and am floored, actually. He does indeed look like he's 7! And the things he said about not getting pocket money and not knowing what diapers cost... I don't understand the girl for making him sleep with her, really. True, he's being quite awesome about the issue and it seems he's actually proud to be a father, but I'm sure he'll realise the gravity of his situation some day soon. Especially since one of the families are living on benefits. (Typical, that, isn't it?)

Yeah, give him a couple of years. When he gets to the point where he wants to go out with his friends and can't afford it because he's supporting a baby things might be different

I think it might be a bit earlier than that when the babies been crying non stop for a week. That's difficult for an adult let alone a thirteen year old.

I don't know what's scarier...the fact that he looks about seven or the fact that fifteen year old girls are having sex with pre-pubescent twelve year olds!

Well there was an 11 year old Dad before with another older girl. Those older girls are really weird doing it with boys who haven't even started puberty.

I'm not sure how they're 'nutjobs' by being consistent. They believe personhood begins at conception (which I don't believe I'd like to add), and that killing persons is immoral (essentially that it's murder).

That the person came in to existence because of a 13 year old doesn't really factor in to the determination of whether abortion here is moral or not, surely? It's about whether the embryo is a person or not.

Or to put it in other terms, if we (UK society) consider a foetus to be a person (and so have a right to life that we ought to protect) at some other arbitrary point (22 / 24 weeks, after birth [see: here (http://robhu.livejournal.com/646761.html) and here (http://edition.cnn.com/2009/US/02/06/florida.abortion/index.html?eref=rss_topstories)], etc...) does it make it OK to kill that person if one of their parents was 13?

I'm not saying that the baby should have been aborted because of the age of the parents. What I'm saying is that they should not be 'commended' for what essentially boils down to a lack of education. It seems to me that they didn't make an informed choice to keep this baby, they just didn't know what else to do.

But, of course, being an article in The Sun I doubt we're being presented with all the facts anyway.

I think sex education is part of it but the culture in this country needs to be changed to. For example why do kids think virginity is a disease and that you have to sleep with your boyfriend/girlfriend straight away for example?

Dude, I read about it and I was APPALLED! And I was more appalled at the parents than the kids who seemed to respond as more of an "Oh Well!" than anything.

I think girls should be allowed to keep their children, but in instances like this, I really promote open adoption. They're so young. And that boy looks 9 not 13. I feel traumatized. I'm 24 and I don't think *I'M* ready for kids.

I won't believe that he's that baby's father until I see the DNA test results.

I think that she had sex with someone she doesn't want to admit to having had sex with (an older boy or possibly a relative) and pressured her 12 year old boyfriend into having sex with her, possibly before she even knew she was pregnant to make it "okay" that she'd lost her virginity already, and that other person was the father of the baby.
