*snorts*

As an individual hailing from Southern climes who also lived in Michigan for 3 years, I will gently say *everyone* eventually regrets mocking Southerners. :D

Bah! As a Minnesotan we still mock southerners. Ok, at this point we mock our own youngsters because school was NEVER closed due to weather or cold when I was there (how disappointing for me). Now it seems like they close the schools all the time. Wussy children I say - need better breedin!
(I really am going to turn into a crotchity old crazy woman! Eeep!)

Heh. The thing I always got in MI was "Haha, you can't drive in snow."

Well 1) the entire time I live in MI I only ever drove in snow, like, once! Because they clear the roads so freakin' fast, which of course is an issue here because we just don't have the equipment for that. and 2) we don't drive in snow here, typically. Typically, we drive in ice. I told them - nobody can drive in ice. They continued laughing. But I laughed last! I walked to work after the only ice storm they had while I was there. 8 accidents in 14 blocks! NOW who can't drive in snow! :D

Me? Petty? Never!

On a related note, however...

When I went to MI, my weather informant was from MN! OMG! I was so panicked about not having boots! I went shopping for them as soon as I got there, but they weren't in the stores in September! I was freaking out! Of course, MI didn't get it's first snow until after Thanksgiving. *rolls eyes* I think it is possible that winter starts sooner in MN...

It started snowing again here about mid-morning and hasn't stopped since, so my nice cleaned off car and drive have disappeared again. :-( I think we've got about four inches all told now. At least I got out first thing and was able to get my fridge stocked up!

At times like this living at the top of a steep hill with the nearest shops down at the bottom is a pain! Still, now the hill is a bus route they do have to keep it clear. Back when the houses were first built the police had to close the hill if it snowed because all the cars would get stuck on it.
