1. I write much neater in a hardback notebook than do in a reporters notebook

2. I'm worried people aren't going to like my mpreg. It's quite dark :(

3. I am annoyed with girls who think they can't do anything relating to technology because they are girls

4. I am annoyed with men who think I can't know anything about computers because I am a girl

5. My random icon generator has picked this icon of Chloe for my past two posts

Do you like the story? If you do then it's the way it was meant to be written. If you like it, then that's what matters. I wrote a dark!fic a few years back that I thought no one would like and it turned out to be one of my most commented ones. You never know what the readers will like. ;)

I am annoyed with men who think I can't know anything about computers because I am a girl.

I get the same treatment over cars. LOL

Yeah, I think I like it. It's still in the rough draft stage so we'll see how I feel when it's ready for beta. LOL!

Surely the fact that you work in IT is indication that you're good with computers...

It's more the fact that people are surprised when I tell them that that's what I do for a living

Actually, I can get that. People are often surprised when I tell them I'm a scientist. Apparently all females in a hospital have to be nurses. Or something.

Hee! My best friends boyfriend is a nurse

See, male people can be nurses. And female people aren't always. It's not this particularly bizarre phenomenon or anything.

And girls can do computers. It's not that complicated to understand right?

From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
I'd say semi-complicated but if I can learn it then anyone can

I meant understanding that girls can work computers too. ;p

*grins* I wouldn't demean what you do, I'm sure I'd suck at it.

Hey, I could never be a scientist. We all have our skills :)

This is true. ;p

Kind of reminds me of being at a talk on Libarary Orientation at Uni, when I was asking the guy doing the talk a question, and the looked at me with the most patronising look. Then the shock when I asked him why the computers didn't have printers to print the ref num of the books I was looking for

Hehe!! You'd think these days with the alleged equality of the sexes these things wouldn't be a shock any more

Well, it can't be all fluffy bunnies and shopping for teensy eensy booties. I think of the best mpregs ever written in this fandom was quite dark. (No, it wasn't one of mine.)

I never have any problem with 4, in fact they seem to cotton on quite quickly to the fact that I know way more about Microsoft Office than they ever will and then I can't get rid of them!

But 3! Grr! Women drive me nuts sometimes. Why do so many women buy into this? Do they really think that because some stereotype determines that a woman should be bad with computers, a poor, nervous driver and have everything in fucking pink that that is how they should be? Is it a self-fulfilling prophesy? Is this why I'm the only non-blonde in my office?

But then apparently more women use the internet than men, so maybe that's wrong.

I once nearly slapped the girl next door to me when, in all serious, she said 'we can't fix the smoke alarm. We need men'
