I feel mean. Ros texted me this morning to see if I wanted to go to hers for lunch. If I had it would have meant losing pretty much my whole weekend so I said no

Now I feel guilty :( Spending time with my friends should be more important than writing fic

Writing is a time-consuming hobby. Sometimes you need the time for it. I don't know why you should feel guilt for wanting to pursue your hobby. It's not like you cancelled on her or stood her up.

You shouldn't feel guilty for sometimes spending time doing writing, but I agree with the general principle that the needs of others should come before our own (if we really love them).

There is a sensible balance between doing things with others and pursuing our own private interests.

Perhaps if you feel bad you could talk to Ros about it? Maybe Ros wants to see you but it's not terribly important, and she'd like to see you another time when you can be free. Perhaps Ros really does need to see you today and you should do that rather than write your fic. Probably, if Ros cares about you, Ros would rather you talked to her so she could express that it's important to her that you do things that make you happy (e.g. writing fic) sometimes even if she wants to see you.

Don't feel guilty. We all need time to feed our own souls. Sometimes that involves friends, sometimes it doesn't.

Well if you only saw her a couple of days ago that doesn't matter but I understand why you feel guilty, I get like that all the time. How come you'd lose most of your weekend just going for lunch though?

Because I'd be there all afternoon, then with my parents in the evening and then at work on Sunday :(
