Apparently I am grumpy!Hils today.

I just went into the post office to mail my Christmas cards (just the ones overseas. The UK ones will get mailed next weekend) and the Doctor Who books. All the time I was there the guy was trying to sell me stuff.

A travel money card (which I pointed out was a total waste of time as I discovered when I took mine to Germany)
A credit card (Uh, I want to get out of debt not into more)
A new phone line (Why?)
Travel insurance (I'm not going anywhere. OMG!)

Seriously, I stuck on all the stamps so fast just to get away from him. So annoying! I do not expect to get a salesman when I go to the Post Office. WTH?

Heh. I figures - as soon as I complain on my LJ about not getting any comments, they start arriving in my inbox.

Enjoy the card!

This is the world we live in now I'm afraid. Take my job; Customer Service Advisor. Not Customer Services and a bunch of products that we have to offer on every call.
Bottom line, companies are trying every way possible to make money.

what is a travel money card?!?

It's like a cross between a debit card and a credit card. You get an empty card and you buy Euros and load them onto the card, which you then use to pay for stuff. It's allegedly safer than carrying cash around but I found that not many places accepted it

???

I mean, sure, if you carry more than 500 euro cash around, it might be safer, but otherwise?
plus, nearly all our shops take VISA, so this travel money card is more for like really, really unsafe countries like..dunno... South America?!?

Yeah, it's stupid. I just think the PO gets commission for all the cards they issue or something. I won't be using mine again now
