My Merlin fics are getting loads of comments, which is awesome, but it's making me wonder about my Smallville fics. I'm trying to work out whether my Smallville episode snippets this year didn't get so many comments because people are leaving the fandom or because they just weren't very good. I will admit the last couple I wrote I was doing just to complete the set and my heart wasn't 100% in it. Maybe that was reflected in the fic. I dunno.

Ah well, ignore me, I'm just musing.

I can't help hoping that they're leaving the fandom, or at least CLex nad it's not my writing. The number of comments I've been getting have been dropping steadily, which does little to encourage me to continue and not switch completely over to SGA. I'll certainly finish what I've started, but I'm getting discouraged when it comes to thinking about starting something new. *sigh*

Yeah, I will definitely finish my WIPs but after that who knows...

It's hard not to get distracted when there's a shiny new fandom to play with

FWIW I'm still in the fandom and the boys are still my OTP, but I gave up on trying to keep track of canon oh, sometime in S7. All of that Traveler stuff was just too confusing to follow second-hand.

I've been getting more comments on my Merlin fics in general than I have on other recent fics, and I think it's because a) Merlin is new and so everyone's all 'oooh, shiny!' and b) everyone's fairly young, which makes them more enthusiastic.

SV fandom in general is a bit lazy when it comes to commenting. I'm no exception. :(

The Merlin fandom, however, is all enthusiastic and comment on everything - even before the stuff is posted. *lol* I assume it's because everything's still so new and shiny. You know, just like on Christmas. You're all excited about the new stuff, and after a few days you find the packages more appealing than the actual gifts. *rofl*

people--no not just people, but me too, -- are set to leave SV and clex (I mean have you look at sv_fanfic? there is heaps of clois, chlark, chloom and whatever!.
and merlin is shiny new, and young fans are enthusiastic with their new/first love :D

I know, I have cut down comments on clex fics, because if I am not 100% behind my comments or my recs, then I rather say nothing at all.

Yeah, it feels like ages since I read a clex fic that I enjoyed. The only thing I'm reading at the moment is morganichele's fic

Honestly it's got nothing to do with quality of fics - I just am not reading any more. Mostly because I get sad, thinking of where the show is now, and how differently I wish things had been, so even "fix it" fics just aren't working. :/ It's nothing to do with a specific fic or author, though!

Yeah, from what people are saying general interest in Clex is dying down now that Lex has left the show. It's a shame really.

Still, at least I have a shiny new fandom to play with *g*

I would guess: new fandom, lots of new fans, not much fiction being written = more comments. (That's not a reflection on your writing, 'cos you know as well as I do - at least, I expect you do - that comments and quality don't necessarily have anything in common. Or so I tell myself when I write something wonderful that sinks without trace.)

It seems like everyone is leaving Clex now that Lex is off the series.

I wish people would remember that there is a wealth of material in seasons 1-7, but with all these other new fandoms popping up, I think they'd just rather write that.

Guess they don't make OTP's like they used to. *sigh*

I miss the Clex. I know I sound bitter. Nothing to do with your writing, because I've always loved it . . . guess I'm just mourning my fandom.
